Post by Rapid Dr3am »

I recently got invited to use Live Messenger.

Just wondering if any of the rest of you are using it?

I personally don't like it... (except cosmetically)

It's too bulky, and most of the features are straight from Messenger Plus!.... I prefer 7.5 to be honest.
No longer supporting phpBB. PM or email me regarding support and you will be ignored. I'm fully done with phpBB and everything.

It's really quite unstable. It makes my CPU useage just spike and makes the computer lag badly sometimes, normally when burning a disc or two.

Sign in seems to have a bug that fails first time, very strange.

Of course the features are from MsgPlus... Patchou and MS are thick as theives.. Why do you think the option to yank the ad-banner was removed from MsgPlus? ;-)

I'm also invited for Windows Live Mail. It's like if u are using Gmail, but the interface of Live Mail is even better. It lookes like MS Outlook 2003. And yes.. Windows Live Messenger has a high CPU load..

I tired WLM, and in IMO it isn't good- they might have even made it worse than MSN Messenger.

Extremely BULKY and a lot of worthless things added onto it- also the sharing feature, isn't that in a way going to promote P2P of...music and etc

Patchou is thick as a thieve? o.O

You need an invitation inorder to use WLM, similar to the way Google did it for GMail.

Sounds like something M$ would do. Same thing with Windows, it has too
much bloat.

iChat, AIM or an open source software are way better.

Ive had Windows Live e-mail for awhile now, and I must say its better than Hotmail in some ways, but the look is quite boring. White, slim blue lines, and a banner. Gah. Not to mention, slow.

You should be objective. ;-)

Actually, when you think about it, GMail, Orkut and similar beta products do (GMail still does, but everyone gets 100 invites each last time I checked) require invites. And both of the ones I mentioned are by Google. ;-) I don't see you saying anything about them being evil. :-P

iChat is not open-source, and neither is AIM. In fact, with the exception for Jabber, many IM clients do not use their own protocol... the software may be open-source, but the protocol is not. AIM is ad-supported as well, so that's one reason it's free.

I use Live Mail for my @msn.com account. There are a few really awesome features like the resizable columns 'n such, but there many limits. Example, you can only use IE (I'm a Firefox user). Ouch, don't like that one. Plus, it's all "white"... no color or design really.

Microsoft is doing it all over again, they stole Mac's idea to make windows(mac did steal from xerox<--is that how u spell it?) and now they are copying everything they can, its like they are desperate to control everything. I am just glad that there is such a thing as open source where we can all help out and choose from the options we have.
