Was there ever a reason why the BBCode was never officially extended? Custom BBCodes are grate and all but it would be nice to have them officially supported.

Because some people would want them while other people wouldnt.
E.g. I wouldnt touch the IE only ones since over 50% of my traffic uses a real browser but other forums would want it.

I am sure that’s true of the current BBCode as well.

Also I agree stay away form IE only BBCode

But I still don’t see why there can’t be an official support for BBCode 2.0 and just make it an option to enable or disable. (BBCode 2.0 would include 1.0 in it, e.g. its backwards compatible)

added post notes so you can save info about your post but keep it as a note that you can only see when editing the post or when viewing the page source code since it just comments what you put into the text box

also from running my website and writing a photoshop tutorial that got my website 10k visitors within just about a month i can tell you that 95% didnt use Internet Explorer so yea IE only BBCode isnt really reccommended but some people like it.

From getting 155,873 visitors to my website in less than a month I can sadly tell you that 127,256 of those, 81.64% still use Internet Explorer :(

Wow AWESOME! You're the best. I especially like the hidden spoiler, where you can click a letter or word or something and it goes to the spoiler. And I like the hidden link. I like mostly all of them. Too bad I can't use the last three though! :)

Looking at the BBCodes that have been listed so far, the only one that I would use on a regular bases would be.
Strike Through
Horizontal Lines
Alignments (Center/Right/Left)
Subscript/Superscript
Fonts

The one thing that is still missing probably because no one has figured it out yet is how to do simple tables.
Probably do something like this.

Code: Select all

[Table] = <table><tr><td>
[/Table] = </td></tr></table>
[|] = </td><td>
[|>] = </td></tr><tr><td>

that looks good but normal users have no clue what <table>, <tr>, or <td> means
but what you could do is add that but keep it hidden so only experienced people would be able to use it

Is this OK?
The input is stopped after 16 custom BBCcodes.

"You cannot create any more BBCodes. Please
remove one or more BBCodes then try again"

as it says...you are allowed 16 custom bbcodes and you have hit that limit.
