It would help a lot if you posted what you did, what didn't work, and how you noticed that it doesn't work ...
I appreciate gifts from my Amazon wishlist.

Under Jabber Settings

Enable Jabber: i change to enabled
Jabber server: i have tried 10 different servers listed on the page given http://www.xmpp.net/
Jabber port: left as what is in there 5222
Jabber username: i enter a name
Jabber password: i enter a password
Jabber resource: i enter board (i dont' actually understand what this is for from the description given)
Jabber Package Size: i've left at the default of 20.

When i hit submit i get

Could not connect to Jabber server

And that's all. Hope that helps. (can't beleive i'm the only dumb person here who can't get this working, i've searched and there is no other posts about this )

Code: Select all

Jabber server: jabber.networx-bg.com
See jabber.org for a list of servers
Jabber port: 5222
Leave blank unless you know it is not 5222
Jabber username: ******
If this user is not registered it will be created if possible.
Jabber password: ******
Jabber resource: board
The resource locates this particular connection, e.g. board, home, etc.
Jabber Package Size: 20
This is the number of messages sent in one package. If set to 0 the message is sent immediatly and gets not queued for later sending.

This worked for me (no errors) but I still haven't figured out it's purpose.

:( Same error though 'Could not connect to Jabber server'

Could one of the writers of this software help me out here. Why won't it work?

It is my understanding that jabber is an instant messaging component that has been integrated into olympus. I didnt have the error problems you are mentioning kirsty but I dont know how to use the dang thing and would appreciate it if a developer or even a user who knows their way around jabber would lend a hand.

Well I didn't have any errors in my ACP but when I tried to enter my Jabber name in my UCP I got this error:
The name you entered is not a valid jabber account name.

When I tried it on a test board it worked beautifully.

It allows topic notifications to come via IM instead of e-mail. Very cool. :)
Also people can send you messages via Jabber from the board.
