It is not that hard to uninstall the pop up version, simply reverse the steps in the install file, I did it the other night 5-10 minutes tops.

I just reversed the install steps, it was real easy.

maybe even easier than it was to install since all you had to do was find the lines you added.

I already had a user complain that this new version of Spelling Cow does not work with Safari.

Any ideas?

Reinsall the old version. Then use the FALLBACK install instructions which will cause it to fall back to the old popup version if the browser doesn't support the new version.

As of today I am getting this error when people try to post in my forums. I havent made any changes at all, it just came out of no where. Has anyone seen this or have any ideas on what could be the issue?

Error updating spelling word info

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 3

UPDATE phpbb_spelling_words SET position = 11 , checked = 1, changed = 'strategies' WHERE word_id =

Line : 407
File : /usr/local/www/data-dist/www/public_html/spell-16/spell.php

Thanks

Chris

***EDIT***

just read the spellingcow board, apparently it is a known problem due to a huge increase in their traffic, hopefully it doesnt last to long :)

I just noticed today that the SpellingCow was working again after being down for a week or more. Im curious if there is some way to disable the mod when something like this happens. Nobody could post if they had it turned on and most didnt even know they could turn it off in their Profile. It would be nice to have a control in the ACP like is in user profiles that allows you to turn it on and off for the whole board.

Hi, i'm trying to finish installing the popup version of the mod, but I've run into a problem.

in : language/lang_english/lang_main.php

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ FIND ]---------------------------------
#
# NOTE - the complete line to find is:
# $lang['Always_smile'] = 'Always enable Smilies';
#
$lang['Always_smile']
I don't have that. I've looked through the thread to see if anyone had posted code with a wider scope that might help me find the general area it would have been in, but not found enough of a snippet to locate it.

If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Edit:

Kept fiddling with it, finally decided to give putting it in towards the middle of this. So far seems to work. Wouldn't mind a bit of verification that its the appropriate location.

Code: Select all

YES, I'm serious! I tried going into the code & changing the admin pw like it said in the readme file. After changing it back, I didn't get the weird message anymore. I must have done something wrong, but what kind of message was that???

Anyway, my users are complaining about the pop-up window thing, so I'm off to see about that check as you type deal.
