A few mods centred around the points system

Post by Merdok » Tue Jan 30, 2007 1:26 pm

Ok first of all, I'm sorry if these mods exist, I've been looking for ages and I cant find anything.

I'm in the process of building a gamer site for the Xbox community, I know from experience that the points mod goes down a treat and I want to integrate this into my site more, This is what I'm after:

A 'Theme' Shop, where users can purchase themes for the site
A 'Signature' Shop, where users can purchase small signature images eg, to state what games they own.
and finally and I dont know if this is possible or not, a 'trading post' area where users can send each other points accross multiple sites, for example one of my sites already uses the points mod and some users have built up quite a large number and I want them to be able to send the points to their account on my new site and vice versa.

Lastly I want all of this to be compatible with the Paypal to Points mod which I did manage to find on this forum.

Does anyone know if any of this already exists or is in development?

If you use the Cash mod, rather than the Points Mod, you can use the wGEric Store mod too.

This looks ok but it seems to not offer any of the features I need.. I could be missing something of course :)

wGEric store offers cash and object trading and gifting, plus objects you purchase and put in your signature, as you can see in this image:

I am not sure what you are getting at for the "themes".

Sorry they are called styles on PHPBB! :) hehe... basically I have a number of styles which I've made for my site, but i dont want them to be instantly available I want them to be 'bought' using the points mod.

Ah... So you want to remove the styles option from your profile_update screen.

That can be done with a mod. Remove the Styles-update from profile_add.tpl and disable the option from usercp_register.php.

Then create an object in wGEric Store that allows profile style updating.

sounds intruiging, ok then one more question... I've already got the points mod and a number of shops installed already, do I HAVE to remove these or can I just install the cash mod and this shop mod to make it work?

Well.... I dont know much about the other shops. I would ask at the support sites for those first.

My guess is that they would be incompatible

You can do the exact same thing with my shop, if you're referring to that... Just link to the script using the special_url field in the item setup.
