Exactly what it says, when your post is small and you have a signature, you have a lot of space wasted causing the forums to be long.

Looks like the profile info is longer making the sig area
bigger than it needs to be in a one liner.

this has always been a problem...the way I "cheated" it was to make the message area of the post a specific size...like 150pxs or so...whatever the size is of the space where the avatar, etc is

I don't really see what the problem is...

Do you mean you think the signature should always be at the very bottom of the post area? I disagree, traditionally a signature is a fixed part that is always inserted after the text of your post; in a way, it's part of the text, so should directly follow the text, even if the total text is shorter than any other elements (such as the profile info) influencing the height of the entire post. Anyway, that's a matter of opinion/taste, I don't think one way or the other is "wrong".

If that's not what you mean, I'm really in the dark as to what the problem is

"Lots of space wasted from signatures when posts are small" Just talking about the space thats under my signature in my "first post" when the message is small. Compared to the space under my signature when the message is bigger.

As oddfish mentioned, the profile information sets the minimum height of the post box.

I ask for a parlamentary inquiry to be opened. How is the Government going to deal with this serious problem?

Just disallow avatars or remove useless information like "joined on" or "posts" from the profile.

In phpbb3 is it possible to get rid of the profile options of: Joined and Posts

Am I right in thinking that they can't be removed on phpbb2 without a MOD?

To remove them from showing you can just removed the template variable which displays them

oh right thanks. I'll just wait until RC1 and remove them from the profiles at that point. Feel like it's a waste of time doing anything on my current phpbb2 board.

Why not write a mod, that prevents writing the signature and at least part of the userprofile stuff, when the post size is too small?

Not NOW of course...
