do you have any live forum with the mod running?
yes, http://startrekguide.com - browse around and let me know if you find any issues with it.
garrone wrote:Hi, I visited you forum and when I click on page 2, 3... I return on the same page.
Can you post a link for the page you had this problem on?
I haven't been able to recreate the problem.

Thanks.
TheInvisible wrote:Hi, it's look good but if i post a reply and I wanna go back address is like: http://forum.e-medycyna.org/viewtopic.p ... 2&p=14#p14

Second problem is this that in last update polish words was ok and now we have "?". What can I do?
#1, is not a problem and expected behavior.
#2, I'll have to get back to you on that a little later… should be easy.
StaticFX wrote:should i just create one for the bb3? (or should i have had one after install???) lol all works fine btw

EDIT:
I put up the htaccess file...

tried your instructions for testing it:
"To test, do the first part of the installation only (.htaccess)
and put in a url like this -> forum/t1-test.html"

i get a page not found... not anything about topic not exsisting.. good? or no.. im not sure what is supposed to happen if that doesnt work...
Thanks
if you got a page not found… it's not good.
did you use a .htaccess in the forum directory?

Remove the session ID (SID) if the visitor is a spider/bot.

Like this (I use this SEO tips in phpBB2): http://www.devside.net/articles/phpbb
This mod is for phpBB3, not phpBB2.

I'll answer more questions later… gotta run.

Hi,

Have you ever considered fixing the duplicate content issue?

For example let say we have this URL:
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 0&t=543997

The same page can be reached via
1. http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=543997
2. http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?p=2980537
3. http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?p=2989009
up to the number of posts the thread has.

All the urls would point to the same document. In the eyes of certain search engines, this could be bad.

Also it seems the search page still have the regular URLs.

Agree. Can't stand seeing the SSID's on the Google results.

It would be nice if they were hidden for guests and bots.

Nice mod by the way. :)

Great MOD :)

Found a little problem: /viewtopic.php#wrap (to go to the top of the page) in Prosilver doesn't work anymore, it gives a "topic not found-error".

Is there any way to arrange this? ;)

ok… I'm back and time to answer more questions… here goes.
TheInvisible wrote:How I can include polish symbols? Becouse now I have: "?" but it should be: "ł ą ę ś ć ó" etc. (i'm know about url_encode) and that it will be %20 etc - one upgrade back it was ok now it's not.
this has something to do with the accented characters I did a replace on… I'll have to look into it and fix that for the next version.
darkera13 wrote:Has a small bug. I cant go to top of page, so i try to fix it. It done now.
Sorry, my English not well so if you dont understand please forgive me :D

Code: Select all

#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------
#
styles/prosilver/template/viewtopic_body.html
#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------
#
<div class="back2top"><a href="#wrap" class="top" title="{L_BACK_TO_TOP}">{L_BACK_TO_TOP}</a></div>
#
#-----[ REPLACE WITH ]------------------------
#
<div class="back2top"><a href="{U_VIEW_TOPIC}#wrap" class="top" title="{L_BACK_TO_TOP}">{L_BACK_TO_TOP}</a></div>
Have fun!
thanks… I forgot about that link, so I'll use that.
TheInvisible wrote:Hi. :)
I have only one problem :) When I post a reply or edit a post, after this I have "normal" link (like: http://forum.xxx.xx/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=8&p=25#p25)
Bots don't… or shouldn't
matgallis wrote:I have a question,

So lets say forum xyz gets an enormous amount of traffic and post topics are similar, will this ruin the links?
post replies, so it's not an issue.

traffic has no effect on links… it's all controlled via .htaccess, which every person that visits your forum has to go through the .htaccess first… apache rules.

bots don't… or shouldn't search your forum… if they do, there is a problem.

As for the duplicates… thinking about it now… I have a way to deal with those and will be in the next release.

Are bots viewing your moderation logs also? :o

As I stated before, this mod is NOT for phpBB2, this mod IS for phpBB3, which doesn't have a problem with showing SIDs in search results.

hmm... I thought I left that out… I'll have to have another look at it.

What GroovePlugs is saying is that this mod is only to rewrite the URL to a more friendly one for bots.

Bots don't crawl the ACP nor do they reply to messages (or shouldn't) so there is no need to rewrite those URLs, only the ones the bots read.

I think it's easy to understand. xD

How come you chose to introduce append_seo_sid() instead of extend / overwrite append_sid() ?

arkepp wrote:How come you chose to introduce append_seo_sid() instead of extend / overwrite append_sid() ?
because when I first made the very first version, append_sid didn't even exist in phpBB3 (before Beta 1)
then I just adapted mine after they implemented theirs.
So I had to make this a very modular system to work without changing as much as possible… so my current version has about 3 times more file edits than did Beta 6.

I finally found the bug somebody was talking about in here… so I fixed it and will be releasing it in the next version.
I hear there is 1 more bug… I just need to find somebody that has seen it and figure out what it is.

my forum is mainly chinese character based.
if i use this SEO mod and topic with chinese character, if will cause error, because chinese URL is not suported yet.

is there any method to allow only alphabetic character to show in URL ? the SEO mod in phpbb2 work in this way, and i was using for more than 2 years.
