Hey I had this mod working fine before I installed a couple other mods, the mod that I think has ruined this mod but I like moreso, is the XDATA mod for adding new fields to the profile. however now when I try to install the sig mod, you cannot see ANY of the users profile, anyone know why?

Re: [20/01/07] Signature in Profile

Post by Daynuhlicious »

I installed everything it said to...

And I got nothing.

Code: Select all

Find
Tip: This may be a partial find and not the whole line.

		  //--></script><noscript>{ICQ_IMG}</noscript></td>
		</tr>
	  </table>
	</td>
  </tr>
That's the last piece before save/close.
If I'm to find something, would that not mean there is something I need to edit afterwards?

I don't know what's wrong exactly, but any help would be appreciated. I've had many users request this MOD in particular, and it's the only one I could find to download, and it doesn't work :(

yes, there is something to edit afterwards. The modX file does not diisplay the last instruction. Open the view_profile_sig_1.0.0a.mod file which is in the contrib directory with your text editor and you will see the last instruction.

Thanks for your reply, the MPEG file was confusing me because it didn't give me an option for opening in text at first sorry :oops:

Now I finished the mod, and I got this :S

The MOD is written for the subSilver template. You will need to make adjustments to suit your particular style. Some HTML knowledge is helpful with doing this. If you need some help, paste your profileview_body.tpl here and I will see if I can do something.

I know SOME HTML, but not enough to know where the problem may lie.

So as requested:

Code: Select all

<table cellspacing="1">
	<tr class="toplines">
		<th colspan="2">{L_VIEWING_PROFILE}</th>
	</tr>
	<tr>
		<td colspan="2"><h2>{USERNAME}</h2></td>

Daynuhlicious wrote:I know SOME HTML, but not enough to know where the problem may lie.

So as requested:
Your code is a little different from subSilver, but it is still basically the same. The important thing is to look for the variables, then look for the corresponding html tags, keeping track of the tags.

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
		  //--></script><noscript>{ICQ_IMG}</noscript></td>
		</tr>
	  </table>
	</td>
  </tr>
#
#-----[ AFTER, ADD ]------------------------------------
#
		<!-- BEGIN switch_signature -->
	<tr>
		<td class="catRight" width="60%"><b><span class="gen">{L_SIGNATURE}</span></b></td>
	</tr>
	<tr>
		<td class="row1"> <span class="postbody">{USER_SIG}</span></td>
	</tr>
		<!-- END switch_signature -->
So...find the ICQ_IMG} variable, then the closing td tag right after it.
Then look for the closing tr tag, the closing table tag, the closing td tag, and the closing tr tag. Place the sig_in_profile code after the closing tr tag as explained in the instruction.
It will look like this

Code: Select all

              <td>{L_ICQ_NUMBER}:</td>
               <td>{ICQ_IMG}</td>
            </tr>
         </table></td>
         </tr>
      <!-- BEGIN switch_signature -->
   <tr>
      <td class="catRight" width="60%"><b><span class="gen">{L_SIGNATURE}</span></b></td>
   </tr>
   <tr>
      <td class="row1"> <span class="postbody">{USER_SIG}</span></td>
   </tr>
      <!-- END switch_signature -->
      </table></td>
   </tr>
</table>

<div class="timezone right">{S_TIMEZONE}</div>
<div class="spacing"></div>

There are three ways to install a MOD.

1) Open view_profile_sig_1.0.0b.xml with your browser and follow the instructions
~or~
2) Open contrib/view_profile_sig_1.0.0b.txt with your text editor and follow the instructions
This will help you understand the instructions, How to install a MOD

~or~
3) Use EasyMOD v0.3.0

Is this only compatible with SubSilver because there are some [FIND] parts where it doesn't exist in my style :|

EDIT: i see previous posts you did it for them,

can you please try with this???
