MOD Title: phpBB2 Flash Video (FLV) integration
MOD Description: Adds the ability to attach or upload flv's to your message.
MOD Version: 1.0.4
MOD Dependency: 'Attachment MOD' by Acyd Burn

MOD Download: here

This MOD requires you to have the 'Attachment MOD' by Acyd Burn installed BEFORE installing this plugin.
It should install fine with easymod on phpBB 2.0.22

This MOD is ported from my phpBB3 mod Flash Video (FLV) integration

MOD History:
v 1.0.0 -initial release
v 1.0.1 -repackaged according to MODX
v 1.0.2 -fixed bug when editing extension groups
v 1.0.3 -added customizable width and height parameters in bbcode
v 1.0.4 -optimized package for validation, bugfixes & included new mediaplayer.swf

Installed the Attachment mod version and do get a box but it just loads and loads never displaying the flv file.

This is in Firefox if that matters.

I just checked the link mate and it says it's not for phpbb2 - im running phpbb2 - so what do i do?

If you read carefully, you will see:
This Version will NOT work with phpBB2 Modules designed for *Nuke Portals"

So it does work with phpbb2 unless you have it installed in a Nuke portal.
If you have, then I can't help you with the attached flv's, the bbcode flv's should be possible, please ask if you only want that.

you can see a post here where the file doesn't work...and you can see a post here where the same file is embedded using code in bbcode.php which does work.

I can't seem to find the problem, I see you have modified the mod, could you try the default install and see if that works?

Works great....there were a few problems though.

For whatever reason the sql didn't set the cat_id correctly in the db table (set it to 0 on initial install instead of 4)...everything else was done fine.

The sql itself....if you have a group_id of 8 already (as I had) the first half of the sql will run with the second failing due to this. Isn't group_id auto increment and if so, wouldn't you just omit that part? Possibly the same with cat_id? No idea, didn't really dig into it.

FWIW, my issue was that I was trying to load the swf file from the /templates directory instead of forum root....no biggie but the ./blah.swf is important. Tried changing the path but never got it to work...oh well.

I don't have a live demo, maybe someone else?
the mod attaches the flv-video in a flash-video-player to the message.

so you would be able to restrict certain groups to viewing the content right? because thats just standard phpbb options.

What is the quality like in a FLV player? i was producing in .swf and the quality is phenomenal but the file sizes are too big so i need to change production.

I've installed the attachment MOD and this flash intergration, but i've never used the attachment mod before and dont have a clue, i have my .flv vid on my hard drive what steps do i take now to getting this in the posts? i need an idiots guide.

It's realy easy, just click on "new reply" and then you will have the ability of uploading a file as an attachment, click 'Browse' and select your flv. Then hit 'add' and it will be attahced to your post as a viewable video.
You can also use the bb code if the file already is on your server, or on another website.
for this to work, type [flv]http://www.website.com/flvvideo.flv[/flv]

Thats it.
