what kind of "basic user info" does it send you, info that we can already view on thier profile?

Well just the info they are able to sumbit on registration.
-username and mail

It's just a small notification. What I'm planning for the next version and only need to fix a bit is the ability to optionally send the mail to moderators and/or admins...

Im really new to phpbb, so how do i install this? simply unzip the files in my root folder?

Unzip files on your harddisk, open install.xml file using your browser and follow the installation instructions.

What changes can I make so that this only notifies the site Admin and not Global Moderators?
or do I have a permission set incorrectly?

If I am right ( baring in mind I only just installed this myself) it should only notify users which have a_user permission, which means any users who can manage users via the ACP

@ameeck,

Are you also planning to implement a double registration option?

sample:

user registering himself and activate with activation email
admin gets this email from you + activation user link

Your email is needed to check if registration information (username) is correct before activating user?
