[Fixed]Fix Width on Subsilver

Post by L0cke »

I'm having so much trouble with this..

Basically, my forum isn't full page, it's 730 width.
My Author side (with avatar and stuff) is 120 and my message side is 610 (where the post goes).

In the post side, if an image over 395 pixels is posted, it stretches the whole forum and it looks goofy and ugly.

People say this is just a problem with SubSilver.. well I really, REALLY need this stopped.. Not "worked around," but stopped.

I'm really advanced with HTML and I see no problems with it at all.. but there is still aproblem. And Netscape doesn't pick up the error.

So what can we do? Please, anyone, help me out. This is so urgent to me. Thanks!

It isn't "just" subsilver. Several others do it as well. Specially those based on it, as most of them are... But if you find a way to fix it, post it please. I know of several people who would be interested in how to do that...
I want my, I want my, I want my MP3's!

Found it! Sweet..

Basically, it's located in the area of your code (at least on subsilver) where it calls on the Quote, IP, and X image.. and says the date the message was posted.. The tables in that area are gunked up. I can't describe exactly what I did, or post code (its mainly fit for my forum), but it's just that table that divides the Post Date and Quote IP X stuff..

Code: Select all

##### In viewtopic_body.tpl #####

##### Find #####
<tr>
<td width="100%">

<a href="{postrow.U_MINI_POST}">
<img src="{postrow.MINI_POST_IMG}" width="12" height="9" alt="{postrow.L_MINI_POST_ALT}" title="{postrow.L_MINI_POST_ALT}" border="0" /></a>
<span class="postdetails">{L_POSTED}: {postrow.POST_DATE}<span class="gen">&nbsp;</span>&nbsp; &nbsp;{L_POST_SUBJECT}: {postrow.POST_SUBJECT}</span>
</td>

<td valign="top" align="right" nowrap="nowrap">
{postrow.QUOTE_IMG} {postrow.EDIT_IMG} {postrow.DELETE_IMG} {postrow.IP_IMG}
</td>
</tr>

#### Alter to/Replace With ####
<tr>
<td width="100%">

<table width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">
<tr><td valign="middle" align="left">

<a href="{postrow.U_MINI_POST}">
<img src="{postrow.MINI_POST_IMG}" width="12" height="9" alt="{postrow.L_MINI_POST_ALT}" title="{postrow.L_MINI_POST_ALT}" border="0" /></a>
<span class="postdetails">{L_POSTED}: {postrow.POST_DATE}<span class="gen">&nbsp;</span>&nbsp; &nbsp;{L_POST_SUBJECT}: {postrow.POST_SUBJECT}</span>
</td>

<td valign="middle" align="right" nowrap="nowrap">
{postrow.QUOTE_IMG} {postrow.EDIT_IMG} {postrow.DELETE_IMG} {postrow.IP_IMG}
</td></tr></table>

</td>
</tr>
I'm pretty sure that does it. That's what I did to fix mine.. Who knows though, perhaps mine just had a crazy bug.. Testers, anyone?

YES! Thank you Locke! My board really seems to like wide sigs and it was causing problems. Your code fixed it. Thanks! http://www.ff8database.com

As this has been brought back up front, I think you need to change something L0cke, your table cells are now messed up for below that. Either add a colspan="2" into the first td, or remove it from the 3 tds after this fix (the ones for separating line, body, and signature). Just the coder inside of me yelling...

/me sees this as another IE bug, as the code was good

(I fixed another IE bug, the one with posting &#8220; into docs, but yea, a bug none the less, as this is not standard!)
