try this ^talkbasket^ - had problems with it changing a user's default group and it shows in the error you are getting :

OPEN includes/functions_user.php

FIND

and comment it out :

Thanks, that fixed the problem. Another thing that was mentioned a couple of pages back is that when new member register and selects country flag it still shows that no flag was selected and displays "---" instead of a flag in the profile page.
