Upgrade from phpBB 2.0.22 to phpBB 2.0.23

Post by Big Clucker »

Hello all :)

I received this little red highlighted message when I logged into my Admin Panel - saying that I should upgrade to phpBB 2.0.23 from phpBB 2.0.22.

My question is...... will this effect any of the EasyMod MODs I have installed?

Thank you

p.s. apologies if this is the wrong forum for this question, as I didn't know quite where to put it.

Probably not. But I suggest trying it. ;)

The real "meat" of .23 are quite a few admin panel changes, so I doubt your other MODs will be affected by that.

No features, just fixes.
List here

By the way, to update you will need the code changes version. You can install it with easyMOD.

Thanks Kevin.

I just hit the "Download Legacy Release" blue button on the download page, (selecting zip file) - that's the one I'm extracting at the moment - does that contain the code changes, or do I have to select the "code change" link below the blue download box?

Thanks again guys

No, what you just downloaded contains all the new files; you want this: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/phpbb/ ... ges.tar.gz

There's a link under the blue box that says

Actually - I just tried it with Easymod - and it didn't recognize it? I got this:
IND FAILED: In file [templates/subSilver/posting_body.tpl] could not find:

</select> &nbsp;{L_FONT_SIZE}:<select name="addbbcode20" onChange="bbfontstyle('[size=' + this.form.addbbcode20.options[this.form.addbbcode20.selectedIndex].value + ']', '[/size]');this.selectedIndex=0;" onMouseOver="helpline('f')">
<option value="0" class="genmed">{L_FONT_SIZE}</option>
<option value="7" class="genmed">{L_FONT_TINY}</option>
<option value="9" class="genmed">{L_FONT_SMALL}</option>
<option value="12" selected class="genmed">{L_FONT_NORMAL}</option>
Any clues anyone?

well, I typed this all out once, but Kevin's post bumped mine out.

( I simply hate the way phpbb3 does this with warning you about a post being made since you clicked on reply, I am forever losing posts because of it. end rant )

anyway,

as Kevin suggested, you probably have installed some type of bbcode MOD. this has changed that code that easymod is looking for .

the number 20 could be the only difference, it might be a different number.

open your posting_body.tpl file in a tex editor and check.

find the code for the drop down box and that is where you make the changes in the update. Just do them manually and then remove the find and replace from the MOD file and run it through easymod again.

I managed to manually apply the mod for the code change... however... the version string hasn't changed... ^^; how do you update that? My board is running the 2.0.23 code, but 2.0.22. I see no code in the code changes referencing this. My board is still telling me i need to update to 23.

You need to upload the install folder that came with the update and then in your browser go to http://www.your_domain/your_forum_root/install/update_to latest. php - then delete the install folder.
I can stop all your spam. I can upgrade or update your Board. PM or email me. (Paid support)

How Do I install this update with EasyMOD?

I copied the code changes ZIP file from phpbb as I have 3 mods to my board (MultipleBBCode, YouTube and Textual Confirmation).

I copied the ZIP file into a new folder in forums/admin/mods called 2.023 changes on my server.

I extracted the ZIP file.

Then I went into the EasyMOD section of the Admin panel on my forum and tried installing it with EasyMOD.

During the porcess phase of the EasyMOD install, it came up with a lot of errors and I don't think it installed as I still have the red update message in the main screen of the admin section and the 2.023 changes is still showing up as an uninstalled mod in EasyMOD.

What did I do wrong?

Or can you not install this upgrade with EasyMOD?

Thanks in advance for the help.
