Missing a closedir() call in "function sphinx_unlink_by_pattern($path, $pattern)".

If it's useful, I got this error:

Code: Select all

[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /includes/search/fulltext_sphinx.php on line 1151: readdir(): supplied argument is not a valid Directory resource
this is from checkout 10 mins ago (0000hrs GMT 6th March )

hi,

indexer and searchd appear to be missing from trunk (1644 GMT 06/03/08). phpBB3 won't let me use the backend until it can find these files.

You need to compile sphinx before you can use it :).

:( looks like my ISP would have to install it (sphinx). They aren't going to so that for clustered mysql, not for just me, no way. I guess from this that you'll only be able to use it on a dedicated server where you've got both ssh and root access or if not root access then arbritary ports within the web environment. :(

So you saying that this mod is not usable at all if you have your own server?

I would say that as it is svn mode, not to attempt installing at this stage without knowledge of being able to do so.

As stated, it is a plugin at this stage. I'd expect the beta release to have functionality to install for use.

No, the opposite.

I'm saying that *presently* you'd need your own server or one you had root access on in order to install the sphinx daemon itself, because presently you need the sphynx daemon to run the phpBB backend. My board is on an ISP's webservers, so I'll wait till the mod comes out, presumably that won't need sphinx installed

Thesearch backend will always need to have sphinx installed.

oh man, I'm gutted  I thought it'd be some nifty portable API or something...

..unless I can install it locally on a linux box with --prefix then ftp it over to my ISP. I dunno what the'd say to me running unauthorised servers on their web frontend tho :( prolly shut me down...

option 2 is to ask em to install it. think they'll just point and laugh though!
