Topic title mod

I've seen this somewhere else, hopefully either a MOD exists, or can be developed maybe.

For some of my forums, i'd like to offer a choice of a "topic leader", that is a bit of text that the user selects from a drop down list which preceeds the title of the topic they enter.

For example, for one of my forums the options might be...

OtsAV, PCDJ, VDJ

The users topic title might be "Help importing files"

If they chose OtsAV from the drop down list, the topic title would be...

"OtsAV: Help importing files"

I understand that I can use subforums to separate out the different categories, but this would be easier than filling my forum with subforums. Another example is in my classifieds forum, the options could be "For Sale", "Wanted" or "Swap".
