[Abandoned] BB3 Emergency Toolkit

Post by Desdenova » Thu May 15, 2008 7:23 am

MOD Title: BB3 Emergency Toolkit
MOD Author: sTraTo (StarTrekGuide) - A.K.A. Desdenova

MOD Description: Ever been locked out of your own board?
Just moved hosts, and now your cookie information and script path is incorrect?
With this PHP script, you can easily alter certain things in the database on an emergency basis.
As I build the three scripts, more modes are added, and so are more possibilities!
With a very user-friendly interface, it's better than digging around in phpMyAdmin!

It is recommended, that when you download, CHMOD it so that none can access it, since it could introduce some slight security risks while accessible (even though the query script, which is the only thing that isn't secured VIA phpBB's authorizations, is using a hashed password).
Currently the script uses phpBB's password protection to prevent unauthorized use. It will not use phpBB's auth system outside of the installer so that it can be used in case staying logged in is not possible.

MOD Development status:
GUI Script: 90% (Shell)
--GUI script still needs the How-to-guide page and Known Bugs page done.
Query Script: 100% (Shell)
Install Script: 100% (Totally Complete!)
Implementation of Functions for Query script: 25%

MOD Version: 0.3.5
MOD Status: ALPHA [Private]

Tested on phpBB version: 3.0.0 - 3.0.1
Released: 06 May 2008

Installation Level: easy
Installation Time: ~ 1 Minutes

Download: Currently not available to general public

Selective Testing:
Alpha distribution has begun, but it will be a highly selective distribution. It will not be available publicly for some time. If you wish to apply to be an Alpha tester, so long as there are slots available in the testing, post a reply to this topic. I will PM you with the location of the Development Board that I have setup for this MOD, and you can obtain the download and support for it there.

Could I signup to alpha?

Could this be used to regain access to your board in the event that you accedently crashed the modules in ACP, or stuff like that? With a script to put them back?

I'd be glad to test this modification out as I got a few boards that I can test it on.

The script is intended for bad cookie settings, the wrong script path, and things in the config table of the database that would otherwise prevent login to the ACP (or entire board) to fix the settings.

For something like the ACP modules, I believe EXreaction had been working on something like that.

I'll PM you two the location of the Development board in a moment, I'm just finishing up the code for 0.3.5 and will upload it there shortly, which has some major improvements regarding modes available and code optimizations to drop the script size.

Version 0.3.5 is complete and released.

Changes in 0.3.5:

Hid pages that were not done.
No more help tab (How-to guide will be in Info tab when page is done).
New modes! Cookie Domain and Script path, with one secret mode added also.
New GUI page, the changelog!
Code optimized! Now using self-defined functions to remove a bunch of HTML formatting.

Fixes in 0.3.5:

Undefined variable UID in etookit.php was finally fixed
Empty error notification that shouldn't have been appearing in the installer has been fixed

Release: Private Alpha
