I'm not sure. I think there is an option for backing up all tables, but I'm not super familiar with that feature.

Is mod_install.tpl present in your admin/mods/EasyMOD/includes directory?

If it IS there then I have no idea why it wouldn't get copied. No one else has reported the same thing yet. A new version will be out in a few days and maybe you'll have better luck. If you have the same problem with the new version then we'll try debugging it.

Thanks,

Once 0.0.10 is released I plan on going on a documentation rampage and I'll be sure put this command into the template ;)

Blah! I was under the impression that only spacer.gif was hard coded, but it appears sometimes other images are hard coded too. This is a problem b/c some of them are pretty darn important. I'll be doing my best to make sure that phpBB 2.2 doesn't do the same thing. But as for now, I acknowledge it is a problem and I'll have to think of what to do.

*sigh*

I hate it when EasyMOD does this. It somehow thinks lines or code are things they aren't...

The MOD said

Code: Select all

#
#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#
posting.php

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
// Begin View Topic Name While Posting MOD
if ( $mode == 'reply' )
#
#-----[ REPLACE WITH ]------------------------------------------
#
// Begin View Topic Name While Posting MOD
if ( $mode == 'reply' || $mode == 'quote' || $mode == 'editpost' )
(around 974 in a MODded posting.php)
and so it found

Code: Select all

	else if ( $mode == 'reply' )
(line 738 in vanilla posting.php)

Would you mind explaining why EasyMOD puts lines of code in arbitrary places every so often? And I tried it again and it still did it....

Great!
A first release of EMC rules? :D

I think general help can wait (alpha releases are not for newbies), but a first document on EMC rules for developers can be a good idea. EM start to be quite stable now (with it's first functionalities), so it's time to promote and support it to developers as I try to do it in France :wink:

I agree, that's a problem and hopefully it will be solved in the 2.2 but before, I've just counted in a 2.0.5 and we have 17 tpl files with hard coded path (search on "templates/subSilver/"), and 39 occurrences (only 9 are "templates/subSilver/images/spacer.gif")! :(

So the problem exist and you agree that at the present time (0.0.9c/0.0.10), there is no good solution for the case I show you?

It's not only the qualified things of the subSilver template : think also that all icons are qualified with sizes, and some colors aren't use the css but are qualified in the phpBB sources. Not mentioning the contrary, which is the lack of qualified classes in most of the links, and also missing in tpls (ie admin panels). But that is another thing ;).

Halas you are wrong, because some template (ie the very popular chronicle) have add the management of those classes, distinguishing the class on dark background and the classes on light background (what is a very good thing btw :)).

Ok but I don't really understand the problem.

To install the template there is no problem. You just have to upload files and EM is not really concerned.

After, if it's to modifiy the template for a MOD you will have 2 possibilities:
- If the template is not too different from subSilver, EM will manage to install the MOD because if the how-to is correctly created, it will always find significant parts of the lines (whether or not some parameters are always there).
- But if the template is too different from subSilver, this will reach the limit of EM; but not only of EM! The limit of trying to install a MOD created for subSilver and not for too differents tpl files :roll:

But in all this cases, if you want to search and replace some code you can.

For the path it's different: it's impossible because of the style name in the path :(

[/quote] Let me get the background first. Judging by the comment it sounds like this is a MOD of a MOD, correct? What you need to do is make sure the comment "// Begin ..... " actually appears on that line where EM is expecting it to be.

A FIND needs to be suffucuiently unique. If you had just "if ( $mode == 'reply' )" then that is not unique enough and EM did a good job of finding what it was supposed to and the FIND statement is not well written. However if the comment is in the MOD script and does appear in the file then that sounds like an EM bug. I'll need download links to both scripts so I can see for myself.

Thanks,
