Admin panel
manage users
look up their name
At the bottom of their profile page are some quick link options, one of which is to delete all their posts.

You could maybe set up a quick test account, do a couple of posts and try it out to see if it does what you want to do.

What if, I want to delete all posts by that user only in a certain forum?

That would need a MOD. or, if there aren't too many, do them individually. You can look up their own posts in their profile.

I have a user with 700 posts, whose posts about to be deleted, but I want to keep 200 posts in some forums.
If I delete with an sql query, such as delete posts by userA in forumA, would it make a problem?
I abandoned all of my mods.

Yes, it would make a big problem. There are many table relationships involved. Don't do it.

Could well do, yes.

Why not get some moderators together and do a blitz? You can delete multiple posts in one topic using the moderator control panel.
Assign topics to different mods and nuke em all like that.

Kevin, or Anyone Else :D

What about doing this on phpBB 2.0 series?
Is there also an easy way?

I posted this message here rather than starting a new post because somebody doing a search in my same situation is quite likely to also come across this thread just as I did....

thank you
