Better late then never...

Post by Matthijs »

I already posted a thank you on the Dev board after I got my copy of Gold, but I thought I should do it again. Maybe with a little more depth to it...

I'm in the process of finalizing my phpBB 2.0 setup (I'm converting my vBulletin forum and rewriting my website integration). It just works amazing and the process of altering it for my needs is just so easy.

In the few months I've been a part of this community, at first only coming here because I was looking for new forum software, I must say I feel a certain connection with this project. As a PHP coder I really like the coding style and after I wrote a custom converter for my own vBulletin 1.1.6 forum, I took the job of creating a general one for the more current versions of vBulletin. Just in time (actually a day before Gold), I released a version I was totally satisfied with (using your coding guidelines).
After this, the whole myth about the count-down started and as I watched the counter hit zero and WGET-ted my copy of Gold, I thought to myself:
WHAT A WONDERFULL PROJECT!

So, a big thanks to the Devs and if you ever need any help with this project, let me know.

12 months ?
12 hours ago someone asked me if i knew of a bannerfree Forum hosting company for a non-profit organisation.
Now I am one and getting all the compliments.
12 hours ????
Yes Web server in place lines connected.
Downloaded the zip, unzipped, installed, failed, installed again, failed again. Created the database in MySql, installed, success.
The other 11 hours were spend getting to know the admin side of things.
Only problems:
How to change the phpBB logo on the topleftMainPage into the non-profit organisations logo. I don't know justsaved a different file with your logoname (for the time being).
Sorry no other problems yet. Up and running.

Don't believe me ? check my membership date to the forum.

COMPLIMENTS, HATS OFF, CHEER CHEER CHEER

PS I am a IT-manager  even they can do it

THANKS !

In return:
If any help is needed ........... translations to Dutch or reviewing.......

I wish to thank the phpBB Team for the great work and effort they have put into making this software. Also I wish to thank David for porting the phpBB1.x theme to RC3/4 which made my life easier because with little editing it happens to work very well with my site. Can't wait for the update to final.

Yes thank you all.

I'm very very impressed by the features and polish of the whole package.

phpBB is miles ahead of any other open source discussion board.

Great job.
