What’s the problem with using the Automatic Updater? :? I’m seriously curious.

I don't understand what the problem is either. You see I don't like using the auto-updater either. But there is code out there. That's right, why don't all the complainers, just setup a subdomain for testing. Then all they have to do is install the latest phpBB3 version. Then they have all that code called MODS(Modifications). People should really take the release of a new version of phpBB3 as a chance to update any mods they've installed. When done you have all this nice pretty clean code. Makes for a happier board owner when you don't have to worry about problems introduced by not updating mods often enough.

NOTE: for those not understanding Sarcasm, it is there(in my post above) but not towards the phpBB Group policies. Those that put their personal time above properly serving their board membership deserve neither time nor board ownership.

Having numerous bad files that are said that they will be bad if they merge basically will kill my board

...and here I just spent ~ 5 hours doing just that, with much more to go. Not for me, I use the auto updater and always make a backup of the files first, but in the interest of "community". As sappy as that may sound.

Oh well, the recycle bin just got a little bigger.

FWIW, IMHO 100+ mods is too much. That's just my .02. Different strokes for different folks. :)

/me wants to know if MarshallRusty did all that by himself or if he might have had a slight bit o' help. Either way, holy code change batman. Thank goodness for the auto updater. ;)

Hi, I am on a mid/highly modded phpbb3.2 board...I cant affort to lose any mod I installed spending hrs of work...how can I Update this to bb3.3 ?

I have downloaded the correct file(zip) and after extraction I found 2 folders, "Install" & "Docs"

I cant replace the files with the ones but only perform code changes... can any one tell me in details how to accomplish this ?

You'd be best using the auto-updater. That being said, if you have any further questions, please seek help in the support forum. Thanks.

Here is what I get:
http://www.catchtherainbow.com/test.html

I tried to see how to fix these and I’ve no idea

Is that link the complete code changes that are different that the ones I posted earlier?

THANK YOU!!!

I will try to manually update tomorrow when I get home and advise as to what happens

Question:

Using the Divine Black template...

If I add the posted subsilver changes (and language) changes to the template should these update ok since it is based on subsilver?

Thanx again and sorry for all the complaining but I really want to keep my site up to date considering I have spend a great deal of time constructing it :D

Technically yes, every theme is different of course but it's just like installing a MOD

Hello & Thanx for the new release.

I have a question please, Im using a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, and i see { WRITABLE_CONFIG } in my control panel, i checked premissions, and its just readable, not writable!

So the method phpbb check for the config file if writable or not, is just for linux or apatchi servers!? or it must be valid for windows servers too?

Thanx

So Shall i submit a support request in support forum?!

I thought i must ask here, since its a new feature issue more than a support request!

Please confirm if i need to write in support forum, if so, please delete my previous post so i submit it in the other forum, inorder not to be a duplicated post.

thanx in advance.
