Common word threshold

Post by marie_1988 »

I'm a little confused with the search settings, no matter what I place the % at, whether it's 0 or 100.. I still can't search for certain terms.

The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: hello.
You must specify at least one word to search for. Each word must consist of at least 3 characters and must not contain more than 14 characters excluding wildcards.

Could someone help me please? I want to be able to search for any term when I need to and the threshold does not seem to change no matter what the percentage.
Common word threshold:
Words which are contained in a greater percentage of all posts will be regarded as common. Common words are ignored in search queries. Set to zero to disable. Only takes effect if there are more than 100 posts.

What version of phpBB3 are you using? You must rebuild the search index to apply the changes in the Common word threshold value.

You only insert a number in the field, without a percentage sign.

If you are using fulltext mysql then the mysql stopwords will be ignored. 'Hello' is on the list.

Thank you both for responding. I re-built the index and that successfully fixed the problem.
