it seems that you uploaded the files in the wrong directory.

http://yoursite/yourforumroot/images/sm ... efault.pak

should return something but it was error. meaning you did not upload the files correctly

as per the instruction file the content of the smilies folder inside the zip file has to be uploaded in your phpbbroot/images/smilies folder

there is also your other smilies.

you don't upload to ACP. You will just install the smilies that you have uploaded via the ACP.

I have reviewed the instruction and it is step by step and correct (to my knowledge. maybe my english is the problem)

let me rephrase them.

1. extract the zipped file that you downloaded in your computer.
2. upload the "CONTENTS" of the smilies folder on your phpbbroot/images/smilies folder. Do not upload the folder, just the contents.
3. go to your ACP > Posting > Smilies > Click the link that says "Install Smilies Pak"
4. you will have 3 pak pack files to choose from, read the difference of them in the readme file inside contrib folder.

Please post if you need further help.

Goodluck

Thank you for your help ameisez , we are also having problems updating to the 3.0.4, so decided to just have hostgator do it for us. Lot's less headaches that way.

Nice pack. But is there a way to mass delete them so I can get back to just the originals?

Thanks!

Go to ACP to install the default smiley pack and choose delete all to delete from the board.

If you want to delete the actual files, simply delete them from ftp.

Guess that helps

I have tried several times to install a new smilie pack and I get the same results every time. All or most all of them show as a box with an (x) or (-) it. The ones that did show where distorted. None of the Yahoo pack show. The ones that did in my custom pack were the distorted ones. I am running phpbb 3.0.4 and SQL 5.

Support Request Template:
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=1530005

When I revert back to the original set, they all work fine still. Is there a setting in the template that needs to be modified? The gif files are in the directory after I install the pack but they just don't show in the ACP preview panes. All the smilie code transfers fine.

Your help would be greatly appreciated,

Roland. :?:

the smilies were not uploaded in the proper location.

it should be in http://www.yourboard.com/images/smilies/[smile.gif]

here are samples

When I saved the original pack to my PC I deleted it off the sever. When I had problems with the new one I uploaded the original pack to the server and it re-inflated fine. When I try a new pack, it inflates fine also, and the gif files are there in the smilie directory but they don’t show in the ACP smilie table. The table is there with all the smilie code but the images don’t show. A few of my custom pack images do show but they are stretched and deformed.

I can inflate a new pack and copy the gif files off the server to my local PC and the gif files open fine on my PC. If I can see the smilie pack in the ACP and install it, than it must be the correct directory?

Thx, Rolomatic.

Are you inflating it on the server?

Try to inflate on your local drive and upload only the .gif files.

On my example above it should show the smiley from your server if the files are uploaded correctly.

The file location is Home/public_html/images/smilies

There is a duplicate at Home/www/images/smilies

I can’t upload to the www directories, just the public_html directories.

Is it possible that I can see the smilie pack in the ACP even if the file is in the wrong dir?

Your help is greatly appreciated for my users are driving me nuts about the lame smilies.

Best, Rolomatic.
