I have set store to 0777 and subfolders but i get this when i install

One or more install actions failed. Please review the actions below, make any adjustments and retry. You may continue with the installation even though some of the actions failed. This is not recommended and may cause your board to not function correctly.
The directory store/mods/annual_stars_1_0_1a/_edited/includes/acp could not be created
The directory store/mods/annual_stars_1_0_1a/_edited/language/en could not be created
The directory store/mods/annual_stars_1_0_1a/_edited/styles/prosilver/imageset could not be created
The directory store/mods/annual_stars_1_0_1a/_edited/styles/prosilver/template could not be created
The directory store/mods/annual_stars_1_0_1a/_edited/styles/prosilver/template could not be created

I have set filepermissions to 0644 and 0755 but i dont think that work

Are you using the FTP write method? There was a bug in this method. You can fix that with this change to includes/editor.php:

Code: Select all

               $has_chmod = @function_exists('ftp_chmod');

               // Use the permissions settings specified in the AutoMOD configuration
               // The $has_chmod variable codes around an incompatibility with phpBB's transfer class
               $this->transfer->dir_perms = ($has_chmod) ? hexdec($config['am_dir_perms']) : $config['am_dir_perms'];
               $this->transfer->file_perms = ($has_chmod) ? hexdec($config['am_file_perms']) : $config['am_file_perms'];
Replace with

Code: Select all

               $this->transfer->dir_perms = octdec($config['am_dir_perms']);
               $this->transfer->file_perms = octdec($config['am_file_perms']);

I have set it back to direct but then i get

AutoMOD has determined the filesystem is not writable, so the direct write method cannot be used.

What permissions must i set?

The direct write method is not usually recommended for live sites. I suggest you make the code change mentioned above or use the compressed file download write method.

Can you re-check the permissions with your FTP client on the /store/mods/MOD-NAME directory (i.e. /store/mods/Advertisement Management/) to ensure it is still set to 777?

I'm afraid this is only possible via a database tool like phpMyAdmin.

I really don't know why you are still getting this error. I assume the message is accurate and the /store/mods/MOD-NAME/_edited/ directory is not created?

hi,

_edited directorys exist, although out of the two mods installed, one _edited folder is empty and the other has some content.

how do i go about removing the 'installed' tag for the mods using phpMyAdmin please ?

unless i'm just gonna mess things up more than i have already ?

thanks for your help.

Once you get to phpMyAdmin via your web host's control panel, choose the phpbb_mods table. Click the "browse" button in the top centre. You should see a list of the MODs installed. Click the red X (delete) icon at the left of the rows you want to remove.

Be sure to only remove the MODs that did not successfully install :)

thanks for help so far btw....

i haven't deleted any of these mods in phpMyAdmin yet as i was interested in the answer to the following question before i do...

if the mod is style dependant, does the mod 'configurations' still show up in the ACP ?

Thanks

Yes. The ACP is not templatable, so the style you're using on the front end won't affect the ACP.

I'm new to this and my test didn't pass. I'm not clear on what files to change the permissions to?
