Strange Forum Renaming Problem

Post by phreak_02 » Tue Mar 17, 2009 1:04 pm

Hi all,

I know it would be a basic questions but it isn't. I converted my Forum from Fireboard to phpBB 2 and upgraded to phpBB 3.0.4. I would like to change some forum names and descriptions, but those fields seem to be empty in the backend-administration. When i fill them with the proper information they are saved, but nothing changed in the frontend. Then i cleared the cache, no change.

Can someone drop me to a solution or at least the database tables where i can find the fields.

Thanx so much :(
phreak

Strangely, my board still use the names and description used before (i even don't know from which tables this is coming??).

Hi stevemaury,

That's so strange, everything there is looking like what i entered in the backend administration.
But why does the front end not display these changes.

Displayed are the entries i had in the forum software before i made the convertion, but why is it displayed now and where are the tables it is saved to?

Thanx for help,
phreak

So where are you seeing these old names and descriptions? And what are you expecting to be seeing?
Just looking at your forum, everything looks OK.

Hi Brf,

Yes everthing looks ok. When i go to the administration to change forums names and descriptions, they got changed in the backend, so it works there. But these changes don't appear in the frontend. If i logout the administration, and relogin... i can see my changed information there.

So if i change the names and decriptions in the backend, it doesn't get visibile in the frontend. I cleared the cache, i looked into the tables (there is the changed information, the new one)... but still, the frontend shows the old content!! Do you get the crazyness i mean?

Just to make sure i'm not a beginner, used phpBB2, SMF, Vanilla and some CMS-Systems.

Yolu are not answerting my question.

If I go to your board, I see a forum called: "Allgemeines", with a description of "Platz für allgemeine Themen oder solche die in keine Kategorie passen. "

Is that one of the forums you changed? If so, what are you expecting to see there?

Ok, got it.

Yeah the forums name is:

Allgemeines
Platz für allgemeine Themen oder solche solche die in keine Kategorie passen.

I changed it in the backend too:

Verschiedenes
Themen die in keine andere Kategorie passen

Cleared the caches... and it's still the same (the backend tells me it got changed i recall the fields for name and description).

If you go to your Admin control panel and pull up the Manage Forums it shows the new names?
