How do I integrate my phpbb forum into an already existing..

Post by F|_uff-E »

How do I integrate my phpbb forum into an already existing website?

What I mean is... I have my page and I want my navigation menu to show above the forum... instead of opening a completely different page, is there a javascript to do this?

I've search everywhere but can't seem to find the answer :?

Just edit the overall_header.tpl of your style :-)

you could get rid of the sitename/desc

then just set the link to the forum to load it into the main frame of your website

i've tried deleting the sitename and description and that makes the style go all wrong too
then just set the link to the forum to load it into the main frame of your website

what if i haven't got frames? can i still do that?

cant think of a way off top of my head tbh

so you have the code for your header on each seperate webpage?

would be alot more efficient to use frames, i know tis a bugger to say this now you built it lol but frames are perfect for instances like this wher you want to show your forum with your header.

The link to your forum, in your existing site should be set to either "_parent" - which will set it to open in the existing window completely taking the whole window, OR set the link to open in the frame you want it to... (such as mainFrame, frame2000 or whatever).

Have a peep at my site to give you an idea... The forum is within a frameset... :D

but the thing is i don't want frames... because having frames, users that aren't quite computer literate, won't be able to bookmark various pages within my site.. :?

Hmmm...

If they can bookmark your site, can they not find the pages easily... ?

Or...

If you want you can have a link to your forum - no frames. You would then need to add a link back to your site. Maybe edit the logos link in the overall_header.tpl file to return to your sites home page... See Here for editiing headers and footers...
