autosave post as it is being composed

Post by grover66 »

When a user is writing a post, it gets autosaved to the server every few minutes as a draft, and when the post is submitted, the system deletes the draft. Similar to how gmail works when writing an email. :)

Is there an update to this? I searched through the Knowledge Base and the support forum, and did not find this topic being addressed.

And the advantage of this should be what? It would cause both more traffic to server (the site) and client (you - and many internet users have a rather tiny upload bandwidth). If anything unwanted happens your internet browser should be smart enough to remember the content of your previously filled fields (only exception: it crashes)...

Just for example:
You write a long post (a really really long post, put a great deal of though into it) it takes you a long time to finish your post. once your done you hit submit and the board logs you out (session times out). :!: :!: :!:

The odds of that happening are slim ,but still it happens.wouldnt it be better if posts can be saved?Small posts can be ignored, perhaps set a word limit before it starts saving....

Maybe add the enable/disable option via user control panel/acp

Let me rephrase my words: if such a thing happens to me I can go back to the previous site and still have all my text (Opera 11.50).
