Ah. I think this is an other utf-8 problem. Please try this fix. I think it will solve this.

I'm having to look at this more closely. I can replicate the problem, but I can't trace down where its starting. I'm suspecting the "♥" being the problem, but phpBB should be able to handle that correctly.

Looks like the heart wasn't the problem, I think the brackets are causing this issue. Could you please try the following fix (and everyone else to make sure this doesn't break other nicknames).
Open: includes/mods/functions_qubl.php; Find:

Code: Select all

static $user_parsed = array();

After-add:

Code: Select all

    // The bbcode engine nubs usernames with [, change the entity back to the original name
    $username = str_replace('&#91;', '[', $username);
