Thanks to phpBB developers

Post by Doug Gordon »

I'd just like to thank the development team for such a great product! For a club site that I maintain, I had been using one of those "free" forum services with no features, obnoxious popup ads, lots of outages, etc. I knew that our regular web host supported PHP and I had even written some simple PHP scripting for our site, so I was very pleased to discover this BB support that is done in PHP and can run entirely on our own server.

I was able to install it and get it running easily, and have done a few customizations like adding a user profile field and supporting DST adjustment. I have had nothing but compliments from club members, many of whom are not too computer savvy. It's a bit more complex to use the forum now, but it is already getting much more usage than the old one.

Good work, guys!

Hey folks,

Thanks so much for this great piece of software.

And a special thanks to primedomain, who helped at a sunny (well, _here_ it´s sunny) saturday within 10 minutes.

I work in support at a big IT company but, hey, you´re WAY faster here than we are!

Amazing.

kudo's to the phpbb dev's / support staff / mod freaks for turning out a very good lil message board
i'm just recently getting into the habit of sniffing php, but even at this level of (non)profficiency, i can see very good code examples to learn from within phpbb pages

What more can I say that hasn't been mentioned.

The board rocks, it took me 2 1/2 hours to convert from 1.4.4 and finish my theme and that was only because I forgot to FTP a certain subfolder.

It went slick, and everything is running great first try.

PHPBB makes people smile

Post by deeben »

I recently switched from ASP to PHP so I could write a new site for a Linux Box (ChilliASP just doesn't cut it) and I am pleased to say that while I still can't write comfortably in PHP (I'll get there) my Forums work marvellously.

The ease of use, especially for newbies is a credit to the design team - the product looks great and does everything you could want. If it doesn't do something - there is a fantastic community of skilled individuals to help.

Short & Skinny is PHPBB Makes Me Smile
