[DEV] Spoiler Text Mod

Post by Xanatos »

I just finished this up. I'm making sure everything is working good, but should help movie / game boards out there.

To see it in action

For some reason I am not able to login to the mod section, so I don't know when they'll get the mod.

It's mainly used for multimedia boards. For instance, I saw a new movie, and I'm describing it. However, some people have not so...

"Hey all, I saw this awesome new movie! I loved the part where Mr. A [spoiler]drove around...grefbgesr[/spoiler]."

The text between the tags gets blocked, usually by making the text the same color as the background, so you have to highlight the text to see it.

I'd also like this. It would be handy on my sports forums for people who didn't see a match live and don't want to see the result yet.

Actually you could go a little farther with this.

instead of making the bracketed text go white..

Have that test stored in a database and when you click on the link that the brackets would make a javascript box would pop up with the text inside it.

a popup box? no need for db, just take the text in bbcode and replace it with:

Code: Select all

<script>
<!--
windows.open(I can't remeber params, name);
name.document.open();
name.document.write("text here (\1)");
name.document.close();
//-->
</script>
sorta thing...

No, the idea is to create a tag that changes the font color of a specified line of text to whatever the color background of the post is. So that it is invisible.

Is there a mod for this anywhere?

copy the font color code (i.e. use the template entry) but change the color to equal the current post's row color. You'll probably have to add a variable (or make a global variable) that allows the bbcode engine to find out what the current postrow color is, but it can't be too difficult.

Sorry I haven't been here in a while. I also haven't been able to sign in to the mod page for some reason. When I get home tonite I'll paste the final code up here. It's working without any issues (at least on my board)

And if you have installed any other BBCode mods you will be required to play around and change some thigns, but you already know what to change if you have previously.
