Erm... you honestly believe that updating will be easier then? I assure you it won't.

Yeap... :)
There will be even more changes
My mods in MODDB:
Add Homepage link in header - Change user activity post limit - Post number in viewtopic
If you need support click on the support tab there and post your question.
Do not PM me - chances of viewing my PMs are way thinner than viewing the support question in the customization DB...

When will 3.0.4 version be released?

No one knows for sure, but I guess in the first half of 2009.

the answer is the same when any of that type of question is asked.

The answer = When it is ready and not a day before.

The questions to ask are:
  1. How many problems have been cured with 3.0.3?
  2. How many problems have we retained with 3.0.3?
  3. How many problems are there with 3.0.3?
  4. How important is the next upgrade taking the above three in to consideration?
When you have the answers to the above you will know how important the upgrade to 3.0.4 is.

http://www.phpbb.com/community/docs/CHANGELOG.html#v302 A lot. :P
2. How many problems have we retained with 3.0.3?
I don't think there's an official running log of known issues, but the support team has one here: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=1317315
3.How many problems are there with 3.0.3?
Same as above, http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=1317315 would best answer.
4. How important is the next upgrade taking the above three in to consideration?
Given the sheer amount of bug fixes and a couple of minor security-related matters, I think it is important to update (not upgrade).

You will still have to perform the 3.0.3 update regardless.

You should use a localhost to test for errors or problems during/after an update.

Every other update ive done has gone smooth. The current update caused heaps of problems and ive reverted the forum back to 3.0.2 as it was stable. Going from 3.0.2 to 3.0.4 will hopefully get it updated in another smooth fashion.

As I said earlier, its probably something ive done with the mods I have installed but am happy to leave it at 3.02 for now. If that sounds like a cop out to not upgrade, yeah, it is :)

But you will have to upgrade to 3.0.3 first anyway. There has not been a direct 3.0.1 -> 3.0.3 update this time and there won't be a 3.0.2 -> 3.0.4 next time!

I've just upgraded my forum (I used Automatic Update Package). It's working perfectly. But I have some confusedness(es) because I cannot determine which Modifications (MODs) is still working well, which MODs died, which MODs have some problems. I found ACP Add User MOD working, some my hand-on words I added to templates remain, others cannot work.

I think an EasyMOD is very important for a phpBB user (when he / she is not a programmer).

An automatic MOD installer is under development under the codename Blinky, or Auto MOD, you can find it in the phpBB repository at code.phpbb.com, it is far from stable though.

Thats what I had trouble with. Trying to decide if I should join the additions or keep the new files. Would be good for something fully automated but I guess it would be a huge scripting nightmare to figure something out to work with everyone's mods . .

It's actually quite stable.

The current version is still under active development and is thus unsupported. It does, however, work fairly well. If you use it, you do so at your own risk, of course.

Well if you aren't sure what to do on a conflict I would suggest that you accept the phpBB change (and thereby potentially breaking a MOD), and afterwards re-apply those MODs. This way you'll be sure that the phpBB code is fully updated, and you don't break some of the core functionally.
