#			DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS
#################################################################
1. edit the config options in index_login.php

	$site_url = ('http://www.yourpage.php/');
	$phpBB_url = ($site_url.'phpBB2/');
	$close_db = True;

	// define('CHECK_USERGROUP', 2);
	/* uncomment define('CHECK_USERGROUP', 2); & set to the usergroup you'd like to have the user a member of.
can be used for a 'password protected area' that only members of a specific usergroup are allowed in.
3 is the first created group only (4 is next..etc), 1 is only anon, 2 is only admin.
check database to be sure what group id you'll be checking against. */

2 save and upload index_login.php into your phpBB folder.

3. modify index_login.tpl, and index_logged_in.tpl to fit your needs, and upload into a template's root folder.
   ex: /phpBB/templates/subSilver/index_login.tpl

the list of variables and what they mean are below:
for index_logged_in:

	{PHPBB_URL} = $phpBB_url in index_login.php,
	{USERNAME} = The Logged in User's Username,
	{USER_ID} => The Logged in User's User-ID,
	{REDIRECT} => The current URL with Query String so phpBB can come back after logging out,
	{ADMIN} => A text link to the admin panel (if logged in as admin only),
	{PHP_EXT} => The extension for php files as defined by phpBB in extension.inc (usually 'php'),
	{PRIV_MSG_COUNT} => Number of NEW-Messages for the logged in user,
	{USERS_ONLINE} => A count of the total number of Users online (incl. Guests),
	{PRIV_MSG_LINK} => The URL the logged in User's PM Inbox,
	{FORUM_LINK} => The URL to Forum Page,
	{LOGOUT_LINK} => The URL to log out,
	{LOGOUT_LINK} => The URL to log out,
	{COPY} => Copyright link to my e-mail :),

for index_login:

	{PHPBB_URL} = $phpBB_url in index_login.php,
	{REDIRECT} => The current URL with Query String so phpBB can come back after logging in.
	{PHP_EXT} => The extension for php files as defined by phpBB in extension.inc (usually 'php'),
	{USERS_ONLINE} => A count of the total number of Users online (incl. Guests),
	{REGISTER_LINK} => The URL to register for the forums,
	{FORGOT_PASS_LINK} => The URL if user forgot their pass,
	{COPY} => Copyright link to my e-mail :),

4. yourpage.php, examine it's use...
	on any php-enabled page in the phpBB2 directory, paste the following line of code somewhere between <?php and ?>
	@include('index_login.php');

 	or if your page is in a NON-PHPBB folder ( not /phpBB2/ for example ):
 	********* WHICH MOST OF YOU SHOULD END UP USING!! *************

	<?php
		define('override_phpbb_root_path', 'phpBB2/'); // path to the phpBB folder (if we're not in it), end slash, no beginning slash
		@include(override_phpbb_root_path . 'index_login.php');
	?>

this particular example is using the index page of a site, and the forums are installed in phpBB2 folder below the root. i.e.
file located at:  http://www.yoursite.com/yourpage.php
forums located at: http://www.yoursite.com/phpBB2/index.php

I think we discussed this before in the old forums... but I wasn't sure if it was decided it was or was not possible. Is there an easy way to switch it so that when you log out you come back to the site index (instead of the forum index)?

That'd be about the only other things I would want. Otherwise this is a very cool script... I'll be using it. :)

phpBB2.0.0 added this feature i guess, so added it to the code and fixed the download ;).. good idea

i also added this to my mod on my site http://www.elitemaps.com

I now use a Logout button (this is IN phpBB so I had to add the {L_REDIRECT} var in includes/page_header.php

This works just fine for me if i have

<?php
@include($override_phpbb_root_path . 'index_login.php');
?>

added to a php file in my phpBB2 directory, but when i add

<?php
define('override_phpbb_root_path', True);
$override_phpbb_root_path = "/phpBB2"; // used cause we're not in the phpbb folder
@include($override_phpbb_root_path . 'index_login.php');
?>

to a php file in my root directory, the login doesnt show up at all. Any ideas why?

When I set it up as suggested, I get the errormessage:
Failed opening '/phpBB2index_login.php'

The code states that no trailing slashes are to be used... I'm a bit confused.

yah, i cleaned up the slashes stuff and made it like phpBB does it... i.e. DO trailing slashes ;)

if you want you can fix yours, or just download the new one.. which is probably much easier than trying to dig for all the slashes :)

Hi Aceman

I used your code... but I have a problem.

I insert my username & password but I return to the same page (index_login.tpl), moreover the counter shown 4 visitants online 8O.It's impossible go to "index_logged_in.tpl".

I'm waiting your answer.

Thx!!

I have the exact same problem. For every time I try to login, the number of visitors online increases by two. This however, doesn't show on the main phpBB2-pages.
