I am getting a bug on avatar in viewforum. It does not update avatars after a post is made. The only time it will update and apply correct ones is after I run avatar_update.php. It does however seem to work for the main index page.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)

I since found the problem here. I missed one line in the install under the functions_posting.php

Solved. Thanks. :)

One thing I noticed was when I would try to start a new topic.
I would get a sql error saying that topic_last_poster_avatar had no default value.
I changed the default from empty to zero '0' and good to go.

I got a problem.

I edited all the files.
Did the update thingy & SQL thing.

The problem is that its not showing up (unless its because I didn't do the reset cache on the admin panel).
The admin panel is just blank when I go on it.

i'd recommend to doublecheck the edits that concern the acp area. you may have mis-edited them.

also, dont forget to run avatar_update.php as per the installation instructions

I replaced the includes/functions_admin.php with the old one and the admin panel started working and so there is a problem somewhere in that file but I can't see the problem.

Also I ran the one in the root... I wasn't meant to run the other one right?

ok, i installed this and attached are the files that i just used for comparison.

Please note though that this is not 3.0.5 but the latest version in the SVN trunk (i.e. 3.0.5 plus additional commited changes) so probably best to just look for the edits of this mod and compare them.

Refresh all your templates and clear your cache via the ACP after editing the template files.
Run avatar_update.php to update earlier topic author or last post avatar data. Once done, make sure to delete avatar_update.php and language/en/avatar_update.php. Note: You will need Founder status to run this file.

I don't really know what this is telling me to do.. I'm new to this and im trying to install MODs onto my forums. But every time I try I mess it up somehow and mess my boards up. I can get it to install successfully with AUTOMOD but don't know what to do next.... I've been having this problem with every mod so I know it's me, but I just don't understand what to do. It installs with AUTOMOD but never shows up on the forum. Can somebody please help me get one of them working on my forum and then I will probably be able to remember the steps from there.. Thanks

if you are new to this, why dont you try it first with one of the default styles?

Refresh all your templates and clear your cache via the ACP after editing the template files.
This can be done via the ACP. Go to the styles tab and then to the templates styles component and click on refresh on your style.
to purge your cache, simply go to the acp. on the main page, there should be some text like this

Code: Select all

Purge the cache
Purge all cache related items, this includes any cached template files or queries.

Run avatar_update.php to update earlier topic author or last post avatar data. Once done, make sure to delete avatar_update.php and language/en/avatar_update.php. Note: You will need Founder status to run this file.
That just means that you need to point your browser to the avatar_update.php file,e.g http://www.yoursite.com/avatar_update.php
