Re: portuguese of Portugal language

Post by opennet »

hi there,

I'm new around here I hope not do nothing against nobody.. it is not my intention.

Today I came to this posting and replying... i can say it is not the way for things going... I have been on Pavlov's website and registered and so.. but he's keeping the translation closed for download and ask for visitors to register to download and after... well, at least I couln't have it done.. still waiting for a reply.

For other hand support for portuguese language pack on phpbb.com looks like also bad.. does has asturmas time to do it?

So I think maybe it will be necessary other solution..
I think it's time to open new discusson on phpbb.com about portugues language pack??!!.

Well I already tried the official translation for pt-PT from phpbb.com and it acttually doesn't even show up on dropdown list to change to portuguese. Copied first pt folder and it didn't worked.. after that deleted all folder and copied lang_pt folder into proper location.
I'm wondering if i did it wrong, since it is my first time to do this thing...

I need some help here since I am using phpbb 3.0.4 and need an portuguese lang pack...
Someone.. please?

Thanks.

Problem solved. 8-)

Hi,
My first topic was about lang packs. While there is no consensus on this matter. I was thinking on target one forum about. This, here, is already one but I think it is not discussing about how to resolve things.

About my problem to install, I'm trying now version from Pavlov and I think it's great translation.

What I mean when said it wil become handy is the forum for support where I think it will be first income to ask for help ;)
Thank you again.

So, the Portuguese language maintainer is officially away from the project and the only author of the Portuguese language is without time for translations but is offering his help to be maintainer.

The last update was Aug 24, 2008. Is there any place we can ask phpBB "Bosses" to see this situation?

hi ameeck..

well, since the opening of this topic there is a translation pack available into Portuguese-PT, as there the download pack Portuguese-PT (from phpBB.com) was adapted from Portuguese-Brazilian (there are many differences between the Portuguese-PT and Portuguese Brazilian adapted) and there are many errors in that translation, as thousands of users know and the last release is from 24/Aug./2008..

the current available pack in phpbb.com is the version (if I am not mistaken 3.0.2. or 3.0.3). now there are a completely revised version 3.0.5, in pure Portuguese-PT (not adapted from the Portuguese-Brazilian) ready for download..

please check this new version sent to you by PM, all pack was maded by pbpBBPortugal, and we are the official portuguese translators from Board3.de, please let the portuguese users take the benefits of this language pack on their phpBB boards..

hope you send an quick response from you and the staff of phpBB.com..

best regards..

Well, great news for all the portuguese community.

I am pleased to announce that is now available the language pack in Portuguese-European in the downloads language area the newest version 3.0.5, developed and translated by phpBB Portugal.

We (portugueses) must first of all to thanks to the support team member of phpBB.com ameek, that was the person who moderated this all process, and that took us to a successful final result. From now we have an official pack language in Portuguese-European available to all who wish to use in their phpBB boards.

We fight for him and we did it.

Special thanks also to Pavlov (developer from the pack) and Asturmas (we invited him to join us and keep also in the team of the phpBB Portugal), without them nothing of this was possible.

So, I think thats all for the moment and just enjoy the new language pack.

Thanks once again to ameek, and to phpBB.com to let us have (available to all) the original languange pack in pure portuguese.

Kind regards.

Few things to say:

I was promoted to Maintainer by Vic, when no one was able to join the team to get the translations done.

I was NOT out of here, I will gladly post printscreens where I am trying to contact the translator "asturmas" but it seems he said a bunch of excuses all the time, saying he didnt have time, etc etc etc then started to ignore me.

I didnt log in phpBB for months but that does not mean I wasnt paying attention to this project. I've been supporting and representing phpBB in Portugal even before I was here.

There were a bunch of ways to contact me. When I receive PM's I dont receive any notification in my mail, but stills, this could have been solved in other way.

I'm translator and supporter of many other projects, I translate many systems and all the things you guys said, let me tell you something:

1 - Asturmas started to ignore me, so, I couldnt do anything and I was looking for new staff member while I was trying to give them another opportunity.

2 - Translation wasnt made by me, but by him and his friend who offered to be translators, I gladly accepted them.

I received many complaints and tried to contact the translators to solve this.

I was dropped without any prior notice, any contact could have been made by several of my mails, I'm well known in the internet, I'm sure you guys could have contacted me.

Good luck for your project, this is the right time to me to leave.
