Dialects and languages

Post by DoYouSpeakWak »

Hey everybody

For some time iwe been thinking of translation phpbb3 into a danish dialect called Bornholmsk. Officially its a dialect and not a language. But the words spelled dont look very much like danish. The written part of this dialect havnt really been used since around 1900. Now its blooming up again and more sites on the island are using it as a alternative on there websites.

But how would it be classified if i released it for phpbb3 ?

More info on the "dialect" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bornholmsk

As it is not taken into account by any ISO or RFC norm, it would probably be published as Bornholmsk (English name of language) and the language code would be a abbreviation which wouldn't collide with other ISO-639 defined languages (you would make it up).
