Hum, when you do something you want to the best, don't care if is free or not.You are provided with the software free of charge under the GPL license. Under such license there is NO warranty nor any guaranteed support.
Yes, I completely agree with you, and I always modify things and I always keep it updated. Now, I'm trying to understand the patch codes, it's confuse but I'm trying. So, as you can see, I just want something better, and I want to help the phpBB team with feedbacks about what I think of the "decision" do not include the full code changes. If YOU modify things it is YOUR responsibility to keep it updated. If you want to use an update method that isn't provided by the phpbb.com team YOU have the freedom to make it.
In your opinion I must use a simple board. Look: the mods are officially released by phpBB team, so they could think in this case, when they don't release the full code changes for the people like me who use mods.phpBB is not making the life of anyone hard. If you can not handle keeping your board up to date because you installed modifications you should not be installing modifications or just keep using outdated software and live with any issues that come up because of it.
What is it that you want when you say full code changes...RoxRio wrote:So, as you can see, I just want something better, and I want to help the phpBB team with feedbacks about what I think of the "decision" do not include the full code changes.
MODs are not officially released by the phpBB teams. They are merely validated, which guarantees some level of security and stability provided by them.RoxRio wrote:Look: the mods are officially released by phpBB team, so they could think in this case, when they don't release the full code changes for the people like me who use mods.
There have not been any discussions within the Support Team as of yet with regards to code changes being provided unofficially by us. Any user who would like to make them available is free to do so.Artack wrote:RoxRio
+1
let's wait Marshalrusty, may be he can help us with full code changes
It was a security report I filled there.3Di wrote:Great job as usual, thank you.
BTW, you missed to notice you added an index.html file there into the store folder
let's dance then with this new masterpiece, thx again.
Hum, I don't know, I feel more "save" when I update manually. Of course I use the automatic updates (it's a excellent idea), but frequently I need to do many changes by myself because the mods I have installed in my board. Then the code changes are very important to me. And the patch files are confuse and I'm afraid to make some mistake use them and "bye bye" my board.Let's note that the automatic updater works for 99.999% of all boards better than manual changes ever did. Especially with MODs, it is vastly better than the manual update.
Oh, sorry my mistake, I think I didn't use the best words. Anyway you understood me. But look: if the phpBB team validate the mods it's important provide a way to help the boards that have lots of mods. And the code changes it's a good example.MODs are not officially released by the phpBB teams. They are merely validated, which guarantees some level of security and stability provided by them.
That is what the auto updater does.Trittersz wrote:Now this upgrade is what just threw me over the edge. Make it simple! Download a package, upload a package, press install, boom done! I'm so angry at myself for spending the hours I did with mods and this application only to go in search somewhere else, probably back to smf.
My update resembled the following:Trittersz wrote:Make it simple! Download a package, upload a package, press install, boom done!
Code: Select all
roswell@buzzard ~/www/epi.p3net.net/htdocs/bbs $ patch -p1 -i changes.patch
roswell@buzzard ~/www/epi.p3net.net/htdocs/bbs $
Could this be a permissions thing on a folder someplace or something? I wonder if it is trying to get in a folder but cant?Collecting file differences
