hmm it looks very promising...

but ADAP seems too much bother for me to work... i dont like check on all new member... especially what if forum is very popular and big...

so i will not need to add anti-spam acp and duplicate user ip... except i will use sortables captcha plugin...

thank you...

Hello,
I've done 1.0.3 today. This update only updates the DNSBLs list (, UMIL and MODX). Donwload and more details you can find on my website.
I've sent it for validation to the phpbb.com MOD DB.

I have a question about this mod, do it conflicft with postings on the board?
It is no use for us to have that option exept on registration.
My members complain about slowness in posting and words you are writing have a liitle slowness as they come after a while

What options do i have to enable in the security in ACP?

Hello satandream,
there are only to ACP pages related directly to the MOD:
1. The new DNSBL settings page. If you have not any guest posting allowed then you can set all lists to use them only for account registrations.
2. The modified Security settings page. Here are the DNS Blacklists, DNS MX and the timezone check settings related to the MOD.

Other possible ACP pages are:
Visual confirmation settings
User registration settings

Have you installed 1.0.3 or have you done an update from a previous version? If you've done an update please look at the DNSBL_TABLE for double entries.

Please look at the block log how many blocked registrations you have at your board. Count the single IP addresses. E.g. for the last 24 hours I have about 30 blocked registrations on every of my two boards in spammers focus. How many posts and good registrations day do you have at your board in 24 hours?

Maybe while a registration process is in action there is a higher performance at your board for a little moment. But it should not be really a big problem. On my board I don't have bad experiences. But I don't have a lot of posts every day. At least it should not be a permanent problem. If you want to test it just disable the DNSBL check. Or set the weight for some DNSBLs to 0 (zero).

One another idea:
Are you still using CAPTCHA? If yes disable it completly.

Now i havent update to latest 1.0.3 so i will do it now.

I saw that spamhauser was set to check also the postings so i set it to yes.

I have guest postings though but must be approved by us, and a valid e-mail must be provided.
Its only for registrationproblems and things concerned our board

Do i have to enable

Check IP against DNS Blackhole List:
If enabled the user’s IP address is checked against DNSBL services on registration and posting. This lookup may take a while, depending on the server’s configuration. If slowdowns are experienced or too many false positives reported it is recommended to disable this check.

As that option also check with posting

Hello satandream,
have you tried with my MOD or without my MOD?
Without my MOD the DNSBL from spamhaus.org is giving false positives. But with my MOD this problem is solved.

IMO the main job for the DNSBL check is to prevent SPAM registrations. If you have not any guest posting allowed on your then you can use the DNSBL check only for registrations.

By now I haven't got any response that my MOD is decreasing the board performance.

Thank you for this mod, captcha wasn't working too well. So i installed this mod and changed to captcha to sortables. I had it installed for about a week or so and i checked my block log. It stopped 5 bots using timezone 19, and another 5 or so with ip addresses that were flagged multiple times. It allowed real users to register (had about 5 real users so far within the week).

So it works, this should be on the default phpBB installation.

Thanks for your work.

Edit: it's been a few weeks, it has stopped at 20 spam registrations so far and my problems with inactive accounts stopped to (related to spam). This MOD Is the best, the other block mod that relies on DNSBL only uses one source, this mod uses several and you can add more! Thanks Martin and keep it up.

Does this mod implement the ip check when the registration page is loaded, instead of when the registration forum is submitted?

Hello sevenalive,
I've noticed that it's just a long time ago I've tested it the last time. Sorry. Last months I've written it several times wrong on this board here.

The registration details page is displayed before the spammer will be blocked by dnsbl_check. But this is phpBB3 default behaviour.

I think I will change it in the next release of the MOD.

Thank you very much for your feedback!
