how do i stop google from searching the board pages

Post by bramoin »

Hi,
I am using phpbb in my site but the board pages are visible to google. What file do i need to edit to enter a meta data so that google does not crawl the board pages? I have a header page, main page which loads the board and a footer page. My meta data tags are in the header page. Where and what do i need to include in the board pages to stop google from crawling the board?
thanks,
Bramoin

Is it ONLY Google you want to block, or ALL search bots?

Please don't answer your own posts. If you have more informaiton to add, edit your previous post.
Otherwise you are violating the 6-hour bump rule.

It's easier to do all search bots at once rather than just Googlebot alone.

Go to your ACP, then the "Permissions" tab.
Under "Forum based permissions" click on "Groups' forum permissions".
Select the "Bots" usergroup from the dropdown, and click on "Submit".
Tick the "All forums" checkbox, then click on the upper "Submit" button
Change the dropdown for each forum to "No Access", then click on "Apply all permissions" at the foot of the page.

If it's all the Bots then simply upload a robots.txt file to stop them....
