I thought I made some pretty tough questions, but I got two spammers after less than three days.

What can I do?

How many options per question did you approximately?
And how many different questions did you have?

ten questions with the average question had 8 or more options with at last 4 required to be moved. Some were even more.

I added some custom profile questions based on other tips. I'm hoping this will help.

Could you try it some days with the "No Javascript support" removed?

Please use the attached file, and overwrite it. This will remove the <noscript> part so that it will only work with JavaScript enabled.

Done. I'm hoping I will be able to report in 2-3 days that there are no more spammers and in 2-3 months the same. Time will tell.

Am I guessing that it is easier for the bots to beat the non-javascript versions?

Is there a log I can check that will show how many failed attempts to register have been made?

Update: 2 days and no spams. So far, so good.

It could also be human spammers, but that's hard to determine.
Thanks for trying this out, hopefully it will stop all of them. :P

By default there is no log to see how many failed to solve the Captcha. You need to modify some stuff yourself if you want to be able to.

The next thing I'll try is some IP banning. I'll study the accounts and see if I can find something that will give me a clue.

For now, spam free. Let's hope it stays that way.

Hmm that's interesting, thanks for testing this. :) So the bots are probably pretty good in just guessing different checkboxes. (this is used for the noscript version)

I decided to try installing this mod and I've had partial success. If I switch back to prosilver as the default style (which I have done temporarily) it works just fine. The problem is that I've been using a template called Chronicles (based on prosilver1) and the mod doesn't work on it. Now, Chronicles is, sadly, a template from PhpBB 2 and I've just fixed it up a bit to work with the current PhpBB version, but apparently it's not fixed well enough to make the mod work.

Is there any way to run this mod with an old template? My forum is actually the latest version of phpBB, so that isn't the problem.

Thanks!
