editing html colors

Postby IanSn » Sun Jan 31, 2010 7:30 pm

not had this problem before.

Need to alter the color of the background for topics list on hover (I'm using the 'maxthon' style).

Rarely have to make this kind of edit, I'm not not sure where this is done, could anyone advise?

Also, I needed to make a color change on the maxthon theme, using the adminCP I altered the HTML code for the color. Saved, refreshed. Didn't work. Went back to look at the code and it had reverted to original.

Also edited the relevant .css file. Didn't work.

There'll be a reason for this... but I don't know what it is :?:

cheers,
Ian

It's the bottom value here in colours.css:
Code: Select all
li.row:hover {
   /*background-color: #F6F4D0;*/
   background-color: #EFF9D0;
}

You only need to refresh the theme cache if you edit the actual CSS file. If you make changes through the Admin Panel's editor then refreshing the cache will remove them instantly.

ha! why didn't I see that?!

Many thanks, made note of useful KB article at end of your post. :D

My problem, btw, was colours displaying differently on Mac screens. Very differently, a sicky yellow/lime shade. Is there a workaround on this? I only just realised my Mac punters were seeing something truly horrible!

cheers,
Ian

Ask them to clear their browsers' cache. In 99% of cases what shows for one user shows the same for all the other users. If when you hover over a forum it shows white, then Macs should also show it white. Unless they've got some wacky screen display problem. :lol:

No, its more serious than that.
I have a Mac myself now. Its a problem all round - I do graphics, trust me, its a pain. Something to do with gamma settings methinks.

But editing the .css didn't work :cry:
Still getting the same colour. Is there some other place this hover colour is set?

cheers,
Ian

If you've reset the colour in colours.css it will override the colour defined in all of the other stylesheets.

Can you post a link to your board?
