forums.domain

Post by igamingpublic »

Hello, people. I have some serious issues and confusing about setting forums.domain. I finally installed phpbb3. This is what I do in list.

1)I ran on VPS. They gave me 1domain.
2) Using desktop remote and log on Windows 2003.
3) Using xampp that auto setup for me, which comes SQL, etc.
I don't know nothing about IIS, which is confused.
4) I put xampp folder path: C:\xampp\
5) I put phpbb3 folder path: C:\xampp\htdocs\forums (renamed phpbb3 to forums)

The company hosting is 1and1.com.
I went back to my panel, added sub-domain.
The question is how do I set the forums.domain instead of giving me domain.com/forums
EX: forums.igamingpublic.com/index.php instead of igamingpublic.com/forums

I do alot of research on google but I was about to give up. First time learning this stufsf :/

I would like to thank for someone who can help me out a bit.

Regards,
Brent

when you created your subdomain, "forum.domain", it should have added a new folder to your public_html on your web root... it should have the same name of your subdomain name.

all you need to do is use a ftp program and move the forum files into that folder... not quite sure if you would need to re-install phpbb, i just know how to get stuff to show up in your subdomain :P

hope this helps and makes sense

Ok, Dave. I only have 1 ip address It is in the same directory folder. However, I don't see any public_html.
Do I need to create a folder for public_html? Because, I don't have web root folder. Between, Im using IIS the told me to get it from there.
Here is a photo what Im going to show you.

It's not easy to see your forum path from the image you linked to, can you attach another screen cap to your next post please cropping the image to only show what we need.

Also, if you're using XAMPP the forum files normally go in the XAMPP/www folder.

I think it has to do with htaccess where you change the headed address to forum.domain. Is there a way to put domain.com/view?php how do I get rid of the pbpbb folder domain.com/phpbb/

As you can you the picture of my domain. I don't know why it said access forbidden.
