some doubts about italian language pack

Post by imkaal »

Hi again guys,
I admire the work you guys do a lot, specially after helping me to sort out my conversion problem.
Now i've some doubts:
first of all i install the italian language pack and set as default the italian language as the visitors are italian but no changes in language. I mean i don't mind a forum in english but it would be better if it was in italian as my targetted user may know english but in the most of cases it isn't so.
than if i use the special characters like "è" "à" "ù" from the keyboard it just show me a "?" so i think the installation didn't work?
if so please help.

thanks.

but the "è" problem is still there.
BTW anyone knows why if i activated the smileys the letter "p" is replaced with the smiley i have already deleted?

This is not the right way to solve the problem. You should have an "it" directory as well as the "en" directory under languages, then you install the language in the Administration Control Panel under the Systems tab.

The problem is not with the Italian language. It is because phpBB3 does not allow html entities in posting. You need to install an Italian keyboard layout or you can use Alt Codes to enter the characters. For the è character hold down the Alt key and press 0232 on your number pad. The number keys at the top of the keyboard will not work. Also, make sure the NumLock is on. Or you can use the Character map in Windows.

You should ask in the Support Forum as this is not a translation problem.
Have you hugged someone today?
