With no2 being, “i can do that on facebook”
That makes no sense - they have to sign into Facebook
From what i understand from facebook users i have talked to (i don’t use facebook myself) about this,
Is that after the initial login to facebook from your phone, then you don’t need to log in again on subsequent visits to facebook, likewise with the notifications you receive from facebook, one tap is all you need to enter facebook and post a reply, with no further log in required,
If you make an icon for your phpbb forum on your phone then you still have to log in again each time you tap on it to visit the forum,
Hence my statement that most people can’t be bothered to use a login each time they visit a forum !
In what way would such an app not be beneficial for a phpbb form ? surely if all it takes to enter a forum with just one tap of an icon, then its probably going to encourage more use of the forum itself,
I know there are such things as tapatalk and topic’it, which do a similar job, but apparently there are many drawbacks to using them on your forum, which have all been discussed on this forum at length,

i think its important for the survival of small forums or even the larger ones, that this sort of technology is adopted by phpbb and other forum software to ensure the world of forums survives into the near future,

When you login to phpBB, click the "Remember me" checkbox and then you won't have to login again. Essentially the same as Facebook.

Thats something thats never worked for me !
i think it only works on that one particular browsing session, closing that session effectively logs you out, so you have to log in again on your next visit,
Which doesn’t happen with apps like the facebook one apparently ?

If it is not working then it would suggest that your cookie settings are incorrect.

Works all the time for me.

for the remember function to work, you do NOT log out. you just close the browser.

then, the next time you visit , it logs you in automatically. you don't stay logged in , it just automatically logs you in and you don't realize it is happening.

I would assume that fakebook works the same way.

And your browser must not delete the stored cookies when you close it to make that function work.

And all of that applies to FB as much as any phpBB board

Yes, but we all know that the FB APP contains a lot of unusal things that one would never accept elsewhere!
