Thanks for great MOD.

I tried to use [video] to play a local mp4 file.
It working fine on my Chrome, but not working on IE10.

phpBB [media] now supports ign.com (video), 360cities.net (panoramas) and endomondo.com (GPS-tracks).

This is an awesome mod.
I have to ask thought, I don't see why it shouldn't but would this mod work out of the box in phpbb 3.1?

I know they are updating the bbcode engine and using a new text formatter, so are you planning to port this to phpBB 3.1 if needed?

I have another question. I've seen the js of the "whole" package, which is the media bbcode.
I've noticed that you use iframes for the videos.

Do you have any current/future plans on making this awesome mod also responsive which is much needed? Maybe styling the iframe and putting it in a stylish div block will do the work.

I respect the fact that you publish your work under NoDerivatives that is why I am asking you, the author of this mod.

Great mod/BBCode, keep up the good work! :D

Any chance you could add support for Photobucket videos? Happy to PM you some links and embed codes if it helps.

hi again, the latest versions of firefox and chrome (and maybe other browsers) do not allow by default mixed content (i.e. mix http and https). You can only enable/disable mixed content globally.

I see that in your code, regardless the http or https the user suplied, you always return the http link to the according player.
Are you planning on changing this, so that you return the choice that the user supplied ? i.e. if the user supplied an https link to youtube, return the https address of the youtube player.

From my viewpoint if this is functionality is added, then the admins of an exclusive https board can tell their users to supply https links to the bbcode, whereas now in each page refresh the users are asked a question where to allow mixed content or not.

Sadly I haven't seen any firefox extension that whitelists sites to allow mixed content.
Maybe are you planning to wait a bit longer for things to clear up?

edit:
A cleaner solution will be to work only with http links or only with https only links to the players regardless what the user supplies as input.
You could add the functionality inside the script. Just add a "data-exclusive-https" property to the bbcode html replacement and return the http || https link accordingly.

Sorry for the double post but before my previous question for https I hadn't read your post below:
VEG wrote:Sorry, I haven't tested this mod with https.
From what I understand you don't have SSL in your page so you cannot make tests.

I have a one-liner sed script that replaces all http links to https links in bbmedia.js except for "http://phpbbex.com". I have tested this script on my VM and it works. This functionality can be also incorporated in bbmedia.php. If some service doesn't support https we won't change it.
As I wrote in my previous post, in an https board you cannot use effectively the media bbcode because it's very annoying to the users with the major browsers (Firefox, Chrome, maybe others)!

Since you use a CC BY-NC-ND license, I am here asking permission from you to post this search & replace script to also help other users that run exclusively on https (without any warranties from you or me of course).

Are you OK with that?
Please answer this question and don't leave me in the dark!
I can take "NO" for an answer, no hard feelings. :)

I'm sorry, I didn't understand what you mean. Do you mean flexible width of the video player according to the width of the page? Yes, I have this point in my TODO list.

Yes, I'm planning to add support for Photobucket videos. Examples of page URL's and it's embedding codes can be helpful.

I can detect that BB [media] is used on a page with HTTPS protocol and in this case I can use embedding code with HTTPS if possible. But unfortunately not all services support HTTPS. I'll add this feature for major services in a week.

You should use the bbmedia.php from the install_bbmedia.zip if your board works via HTTPS. It avoids at least one HTTP request to phpbbex.com.

As I said before, I'll fix this problem ASAP. So, your script is not a necessity.

P. S. Sorry for my English, it isn't my native language.

UPD. BB [media] now supports gpsies.com. Example:

Code: Select all

[media]http://www.gpsies.com/map.do?fileId=gcfinrpqcyaxofvu[/media]
Best regards, Evgeny
