I have tried to find a way to create a new map, one that is not changeable by a user. Something like being able to reproduce the Featured Map to which I can add pins and locations as I need them.

I only have one small problem with it - I have the jQuery Character Counter Mod installed and it seems your mod turns that off somehow. I would like to keep both, though - so would you know a way around that?

Looks interesting.

But I do not quite understand the features, the purpose.
perhaps, this is a language problem . Or simply technical incomprehension of the features.
My thoughts:

A bulletin board is category and sub category based. Like a filing cabinet.
Alternative: Users are able to set (direct, or by entering an adress) a pin, and comment this pin.
Instead of a user selected position (forum, category...) in a regularly board.
The map (as main view) is your "board", a place is like a "category". Different types of user selected pins.
In the background there can also exist the regularly board with his category structure.
But the categories are created automatic by the place on the map. For example, Country/State/City/Street...
Vistors could search entrys ("pins" or other symbols) by using the address search field (whole addresses or parts like city) or a free "zoom search". As with Google Maps.
Or also a regular search over the titles of the themes. If possible in combination (searching a title in a sepcific map area).
But they can also go through the board view with his (automatic created) categories.
Maybe, visitors should not see the regular phpBB.


If you open a "pin" there is the regular phpBB-Topic.
In the regular board structure or only in a closable windows over the map (selectable by the admin).
It is important at all times be able to easily go back to the map, if the map is the central element of the website.


Is this possible with this Module?
No? Than, this is my feature request.

And I suggest different symbols for different things.
For example, "a nice place" has a scenery symbol, a doctor a aeskulap stick, a restaurant knife and fork etc..
Freely selectable by the admin (his own image files or free icons).



What is with a review/rating function for the places?
Perhaps also with different pin symbols.
For example, the same pin symbols, but in different colors (green, yellow, red), or with additional numbers or letters (e.G. "A to F").
For example "1 to 6" (in many countrys, "1" ist the best in shool grades), or the classic "1 to 10".
But this is also the decision of the admin.

But only visible at the level of each item.
From a great distance this makes no sense.
