Robert, is that a workaround or the correct way to do it? It sounds like the former as I have unlimited the max number of recipients and things look as if I should be able to send to individuals.Lumpy Burgertushie wrote:send to groups, not individuals.
It means that I got a message saying I was trying to send to too many recipients with a number of senders over 4 - please bear in mind this was limited testing by a noob.stevemaury wrote:What exactly does "I found out I could not send more than 4 mean? Error message?
I think you have found the issue, the value is 5. I would not have dreamed to look for another setting other than the one I screen shotted. I wonder what point the devs had in placing a delault '0' for no limit in the logical place and hiding another that seems to over-ride it . It would be more logical to at least have all the settings the same.stevemaury wrote:What is the setting for Maximum number of allowed recipients per private message in the Settings for Registered users group in Manage groups?
Good point. Is it possible to set things up so that admin/members of admin group can PM all members, whilst restricting regular members?stevemaury wrote:Because you might want new users to not spam by PM, for example.
I'm the admin and I did .Lumpy Burgertushie wrote:I beleive that by default, admins have no restrictions on this.
It was already set to unlimited, i.e. '0'. The default setting in the registered user group (5) was (apparently) over-riding the setting for the admin group - I could not send a PM to more than 4 recipients using the default settings as the one and only admin.stevemaury wrote:Then change it in your group settings (admin group).

I will have to do some more testing as the above was not my experience. I really appreciate your help in confirming it should work. One final question, which may sound very silly, but are there any different ways one could send a PM that would have any effect on this issue? I send my PMs by clicking on the '(x new messages)' link at the top of the forum main page.Oyabun1 wrote:I just tested it and the unlimited level for the Administrators group overrides the 5 limit of the Registered Users group when the admin is in both groups. I could send to both groups and multiple individual users.
Thanks for confirming how it should work...I'll do more testing.Lumpy Burgertushie wrote:that is what I thought. the admins do not have a built in limit set for this.
