okay, none of the backups are working, not the autobackup made, not the handmade, the restorefunction just don't seem to work

Am trying manually with ssh now , maybe the database is too big

Maybe half a day worth of postings might be gone, but 11 years of postings could be restored !

mysqldump did the trick with restoring after a lot of 'huh? password? i allready gave a username/password' issues in ssh with gunzip < [backupfile.sql.gz] | mysql -u [uname] -p[pass] [dbname] constructions.

Note: big databases (60MB compressed) can *NOT* be restored on every platform from within ACP
Even phpMyAdmin goofed up due to too much time-out's.

Maybe, just maybe, you can make a better *improved* restore extension for phpBB 3.1.x ?
So people won't have to go through installing mysqldump and so on.

when looking into the admin log, the backup will be add to a user or anonymous user?

Hi, will it be an option to set it up for multiple backups a day in the future? I find that limiting backups to 1 a day might not be optimal for some users.

if you have a need for multiple backups a day I would suggest you use a database backup software that you have much more control over. something like mysqldumper. I believe you can set that to make however many backups you wish, whenever you wish and to wherever you wish.
