updating post/thread history.

Post by Yonzie72 »

We recently installed a test phpbb3 forum and imported everything from our live vb4 site to the test phpbb3 forum. However its taken us about 2 weeks to add things we wanted themes/mods etc. The reason I posted this here is, we'd like to keep whats already on the test site, and import just whats missing from the live vb4 site. Is this possible.

Styles and MODs are not converted so you can just rerun the conversion and it'll put all of the posts and users, up to the time you do it, back in.

ok I do that and it reset the forum permissions, deleted the new ranks I had created reuploaded the failed avatars. What i assumed would be a simple procedure turned into a few hours of extra work to get the forum back up.

You didn't say permissions. You said MODs and posts.

The conversion copies over the database and converts it so you essentially have a phpBB replica of what you started with.

all i wanted was what was missing, not to have to do ranks and forum permissions again, or to have to do a complete indexing all over again

You can't do that though, it's all or nothing.
