I never saw it worked for categories as they have no subforums as such, did it? And how would it look like?
yes it had the option on the old mod. on my old forum I had a forum like this category -> category -> category -> forums
now to achieve that with the extension I did category -> forum(locked) -> category -> forums
I had the subforums listed on the index on both these ways

Sorry but that doesn't give me any additional info. For me, the forums list in a category is always a column and never was a line.
So I still can't get the point.

I am a Green Horn in this.

However i tested extensions on localhost on my local machine.

I had successfully installed the extension.
and had enabled it.

and at the ACP, had changed the number of sub forums to 4, it suppose to have 4 sub forums.

Cleared cache.
But didn't see any changes on how the sub forums being displayed.

Anybody please advise / help.

The number of columns for subforums is not the same thing as the number of subforums.
Set the number of columns to 1 to get all subforums in 1 column.
When the number of columns is set to 4, then with 4 subforums there will be 4 columns.
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.
