Can i make some suggestions?

Move "your first category" text a little to the right (text-indent)
Words topics and posts are not centered
The space where text "Who is online / Birthdays / Statistics" is a bit too big, maybe reduce the height of the background image?

you have removed the border radius and changed a couple of colors and it looks very nice.

as far as being "modern" I wonder if you have ever looked at subsilver2. it was based on subsilver from the phpbb2 days and this "modern" style looks a lot like those older styles. back when phpbb2 was being used, the 'modern" styles were the new rounded corner styles.
no offense, I just find it amusing that people consider the old stuff to be "modern" now.

thanks for suggestion i will work on it.

Yes i removed border radius because some people like the FLAT design like me.

"Modern " because i use the Modern tools like Fontawesome , CSS3 ... and removed the background images and use CSS color instead images so the load of pages is decreased
