For those of you sent here by someone in the support forum:

You need to download the zip file and extract the cookie.php file. You then need to upload this file to your server in the install directory (you will need to make that directory). The install directory should be in your forum directory.

Using your browser go to the file review the settings and save.

Make sure you delete the file and the install directory.

And you are done.

It has been put in the install directory for security reasons, that way it has to be deleted before the board is usable again. No it will not work in root anymore.

Code: Select all

   if (strstr($server_name, "www."))
is less efficent then

Code: Select all

   if (strpos($server_name, "www.") !== false)

Link works just fine. Make sure you do not have any popup blockers or download managers.

Becuase it is intended to be run to set the proper settins and thats it. Once you set the correct settings you no longer need it. Do to it not using the auth system it poses a security risk if left on your server (anyone could change your settings).

so, can I confirm...

I run the file and then it sets up the information into my admin section?

Or do I need to copy this information and place it into my admin?

Thanks

hi i just ran it and fixed my site. It used to lead to a 404 page after i login even if the login is successful, and also produced a 404 page when logging out.

to help those confused, do the ff exactly:

a. download the link above.
b. unzip them.
c. ftp onto your site's root.
d. create a directory, call it 'install'
e. upload both cookie.php and cookie.mod onto it.
f. use your browser, go to http://yourdomain.com/install/cookie.php
e. follow the instructions you see there. press save.
g. using ftp again, delete the 'install' directory you created earlier.
h. voila! no need to go to administration.

good luck :) hth
